Subject: A Xenocidal Batrep - Flesh Tearers vs. CSM - The Antidote Part III (All painted, pics)
Note: This is a different story arc from "The Perfect Vessels" versus the Necron
It's looking bleak for Agriworld Verdus IV... The Venus Plague legion of Chaos Space Marines have unleashed a vile toxin known as "the blood pox" onto the planet. Within mere days, a quarter of the planet's population - over a billion human souls - have died in a beautiful fountain of blood streaming from every orifice for the pleasure of the lusting Chaos gods.
In the previous installments, Sister Ashley of the Order of the Violet Rose received a single vial of an experimental cure from off planet and was racing to a Medicae Manufactorum to produce it in vast quantities. Unable to outrun the forces of Chaos, she was cut down by a Champion of Chaos and her Planetary Defense Force and Flesh Tearer bodyguard destroyed...
And now the forces of Chaos move on the medicae facility to annihilate any hope of the planet manufacturing a cure for their beautiful pox. Only a handful of Flesh Tearers stand in their way...
THE SCENARIO
The Chaos Space Marines must remove three units from the table via the opposing table edge (breakthrough) to destroy the medicae facility.
No turn limit. The game continues until the forces of Chaos succeed or die trying.
Defender (Flesh Tearers) set up first and take the first turn, unless the attacker seizes the initiative

LIST COMING SOON, SEE PICS FOR NOW
I don't really want to know what is going on here...
The Battlefield
The Deployment
The Forces Face Off
The Venus Plague rolls to seize the initiative and....
The forces of Chaos push upfield...
The Defiler unleashes its explosive spew of corrosive acid, blood, and... other fluids, killing three jump marines. The Havoks slay two bikers
The Bike Marine morale breaks, and they beat a "tactical retreat" off the table. SHAMEFUL DISPLAY
Middle of one
The Flesh Tearers push towards the middle to cut off the Chaos Marine advance
The Typhoon opens fire and strips a single hull point from a Chaos Rhino
In the Chaos turn, the Venus Plague pushes forward and unleashes devastating fire. The Havoks destroy a Razorback, and the Defiler follows up on the squad inside, killing two marines and incapacitating Seth (Instant Death - does anyone else hate this rule?!)
The Chaos onslaught continues. The bikers melt an Assault Terminator, and Ascendant Lord Emetophilo Supreme slays another in close combat
Middle of two
The Flesh Tearers advance, thirsty for bloody vengeance!
The jump marines charge the vile Defiler, and the sergeant sinks his power fist into the putrid flesh surrounding its nuclear core! The Defiler takes two marines with him.
Meanwhile, the bikers led by Emetophilo kill two more Terminators and the two marines who had charged in to support
The end of two
The two Chaos Rhinos push forward, making to the opposing table edge. The cultists advance.
The Autocannon Havoks open fire but fail to penetrate the Furioso's armor. The Havoks on the other side of table open up on the jump marines, killing two.
Emetophilo Supreme slays the final Assault Terminator
Middle of three
In the Flesh Tearer turn, the marines swing around to converge on the Chaos Marines - they must not escape!
They open fire, barely destroying one of the Rhinos on hull points (awful rolling all game!)
The Furioso charges Emetophilo, lifts him off his bike with one mighty claw and sends a gout of searing Heavy Flame at his face, killing him! Burn in hell!
I have come to destroy you!
End of three
The newly disembarked Chaos marines easily run off the table edge...
And the Rhino carrying the Noise Marines moves flat out, barely reaching the table edge...
The Imperials are in trouble! The Venus Plague only needs to get one more unit through to destroy the Medicae Facility!!
Middle of four
In their turn, the Flesh Tearers reposition slightly and open fire on the Boyz of M.U.N.T., killing all but two
In the Venus Plague turn, the autocannon Havoks on the FT right flank start to make a mad dash for the table edge
The Furioso slowly lumbers over to intercept
The tacticals slay the remaining Boyz of M.U.N.T. while the jump marines charge the Havoks on their left flank
In the Chaos turn, the Autocannon Havoks keep running! They're getting too close for comfort! The dreadnought can't keep up!
The Typhoon moves to cut off their escape route, but isn't fast enough! The tacticals start to run over to lend their support.
Have the Flesh Tearers underestimated the Slaaneshi speed of the Havoks?
Now all the Havoks need to make it off the table in their turn is to roll a six on the run result!!!
The Havoks move up field and run in the shooting phase! Can they roll a six to make it off the table and win the game? Click on the Spoiler!
Spoiler:
The Flesh Tearers bring everything they can to shoot at the Havoks and destroy them! Will it be enough?
The Tacticals open fire with long range Bolter shots, while the Typhoon throws everything it can at them!
All but one Havok dies!!!! Now it's down to the morale roll! Break, damn you, break!
Will the Havok's morale hold? Or will he run away, mere millimeters from his goal?! Click the Spoiler!!
Spoiler:
HIS MORALE HOLDS!
HE RUNS OFF THE TABLE! AGRIWORLD VERDUS IV IS DOOMED!
CHAOS WINS!
What an amazing game! Down to the wire!
What lies next for the Agriworld? Is this really the end? With no means of providing a cure and a 99% death rate, the pox will keep spreading like wildfire, consuming the planet's population!
Hope you enjoyed!!!
Again, these take a TON of work. I generally take around 250 - 300 pictures through the course of the game and then the photo editing and batrep write-up take me around six hours or so. So if you like it, please let me know!

Break, damn you! How many times have uttered this... Excellent report. Quick and bloody, Flesh Tearers style!
You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

SOOOOOOOOOO CLOSE! Ah that was awesome! I can't wait to see the next one. Also did I miss a batrep when you were giving the intro fluff cause the last one I saw was the second necron one.
Lovepug13 wrote:Thanks for that - really nice to see all painted....it makes the game in my opinion
Thanks! I agree. It's hard for me to play unpainted. I can't remember the last time I did it.

Thanks! Yeah, man, I was praying for him to fail that morale roll! Alas, it was not to be!

Thanks! This is a different story arc - the one against the Necron is called The Perfect Vessels. You can find the other two installments of The Antidote here -

Yeah, it's even grosser in person. You feel dirty holding it. He's got some other pretty grotesque vehicles that he doesn't use much. His Land Raider is just horrendous. I'll try to talk him into fielding his "sexual" Predator and Land Raider next game.

Morris, tragically sold his soul to the Chaos Gods of Flowers, Dancing, Laughter and Friendship. The Morris Heresy is on record as the shortest and least successful heresy in Imperial history.

Awesome, awesome, awesome reports dude! I always enjoy seeing the Venus plague and your wonderful flesh tearers. So much time and effort was poured into each of your figs and it really shows.
Thanks again for doing these, these are exactly how games should be played IMO. I am so tired of seeing poorly modeled armies and proxies as a part of flavorless army builds just to min max, and spam. If you play with your heart the games are almost always close and entertaining like these ones.
Largeblastmarker wrote:Egad... that was a nastay defiler. Close game. very very well done batrep.
Thanks! Yeah, the owner is a sick dude He's a 3D art director for a major video game company, so it's actually kind of cool to be across the table from his army.

I'm definitely stealing the mission idea too
Thanks again!
Thanks! Yeah, I thought the spoiler thing for important rolls might be a fun thing to do. Glad you liked it!

Man, that's exactly what I said when that six came up! My luck was just terrible all game. I couldn't crack those Rhinos to save my life. But that's ok! That is what ended up making it so exciting.

Thanks again mate!
Thank you! Comments like these make me want to do even more!
You know, I used to see all this stuff on the internet and I would piss and moan about all the powergaming and min-maxing going on, but then I thought - why don't I lead by example? Why don't I stop complaining and do something about it? I certainly don't judge anyone who likes to play competitively - that's their thing, and that's cool, and I don't mind playing competitively sometimes - but, for me, this game is about telling a story with two nicely painted armies on nice terrain. When people read my BatReps, I want them to have that feeling of "wow, this is cool!" that they had the very first time they looked inside of a White Dwarf or a 40k rulebook.
Jupiter wrote:Nice armies! Hopefully we can see the predator and landraider in your next installement. Thanks for the report.
Thank you! Yeah, he and I have been talking about what to do for the next installment, which will probably be the finale... I think we have some cool ideas Hopefully we will have enough time to play a big game and be able to field all the toys!

I'd like to echo Red Corsair - these reports are the best representation of the game AT ITS BEST I've seen in a long time! I hope they inspire others to follow suit and I'm very lucky to take part.

Thanks buddy! I am glad you are a part of it, too!
That is exactly what I am aiming for - to inspire others!
As I mentioned above, I have felt for a while that the pendulum has swung very far towards the competitive side of things. There is nothing wrong with competitive, but there are very, very few outlets for creative and "fluffy" gamers out there. There are about a million sites out there that cater to competitive gamers, but very few that focus on casual / narrative play.
So, rather than troll internet forums with grumpy comments on how people aren't having fun the right way, I AM BEING THE CHANGE I WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD!
And it's a blast! And I hope it's one small part of a revolution!

Raise the banner, and keep playing the game as it was meant to be played!
