This is my subject to change golden daemon entry, I know it won't place but a finalist pin I hope, I'd like as much feedback as possible, especially about the base as it isn't yet stuck to allow alterations / additions.

Looking pretty good, Base wise I'd say try and tie the helmet in better. It just kind of looks stuck there, maybe put some blood or pus around it?

Thanks , I was just thinking about doing shiny fresh blood dripping down the armour plate from the helmet, but I think the angle and positioning is fine

First of all, this model looks amazing. I can't stop staring at it. The choice of colors for the helmet is point on too. I'm going to second the rotting on the helmet and suggest a yellow similar to the boils on the bottom left, maybe a tad brighter with a subtle highlight maybe blending into a green. maybe you can put some armor/meat/blood on part of the cleaver too. Maybe make it look like it was a 'dirty' oppoesed to a clean 'guillotine-like' cut and put chunks in the rigid part of the axe. Just my 2 cents.

My advice, stick with a square base and a WFB theme.

While the rules say you can place any model on an "appropriately-sized gaming base (round or square)," you have a unconverted WFB model on a round base with a Tau helmet on it. Which category are you entering it in? Warhammer 40,000 Single Miniature or Warhammer Single Miniature? If you intended to enter it the the 40K category, you should have converted it to fit with the grimdark sci-fi theme, just adding a tau helmet to base isn't enough.

I'm entering it as 40K, as a herald of Nurgle, the daemons look fantasyish in 40k anyway for obvious reason so I thought I would be fine :/

Here's with a bit of blood by the way, I may see what I can do for the weapons looking more used.

It's painted well but the base is somewhat lacking.

If I was you I would turn the model around 180 degrees on the base. So that it is looking down the armour plate rather than up it.

That's fine, but it is still just a WFB model on a round base. I would understand if it was a Chaos Daemon model, but it isn't. Some conversion should have been done so the model "fits" with 40K.

Here is what it says on the GW site:
Category 1
Warhammer 40,000 Single Miniature

Any single human-sized Warhammer 40,000 miniature mounted on an appropriately sized gaming base. This category includes Terminators but other models supplied with 40mm and larger bases should be entered in the Warhammer 40,000 Monster category. Models on larger bases should be entered into another category. Note that bike-mounted character models must be entered in the Vehicle category. Single miniatures from Forge World's Imperial Armour may be entered in this category.

Category 5
Warhammer Single Miniatur
e
This is open to any single fantasy miniature (Warhammer, Mordheim and Blood Bowl). This includes single models on horses, boars or wolves, but not those mounted on large monsters. All models must be presented on an appropriately sized gaming base. Generally these will be 20mm or 25mm square bases for foot figures and 25 x 50mm cavalry bases for mounted models, although appropriately sized circular bases may be used if preferred. Single miniatures from Forge World's Warhammer Forge may be entered in this category.

I'm not taking anything way from the quality of miniature itself, it is very well painted model. I'm trying to help you by giving you some perspective that a judge in the contest might have. They can't talk to you to find out why you did what you did, that has to be explained by the model itself.

Thanks for the advice, it got almost two in the morning and things needed to be glued , so what's done is done now for the most part, one thing I have done is added some brass wire fence strip accross the base.

The little bit of blood definitely helps! As was mentioned maybe see if you can bloody the axe a bit, but it's to the point where I myself would terrified to touch it!

Good luck, I think it looks great.

A Heretic may see the truth and seek redemption. He may be forgiven his past and will be absolved in death. A Traitor can never be forgiven. A Traitor will never find peace in this world or the next.
