So I was painfully defeated in my 10k apocalypse battle. I was overwhelmed by Greater Demons, Demon Prince's, and other Demon scum. My morale was crushed in turn three when my opponent called back D3 (he rolled a 6) demon prince's back into play. However, I learned from my mistakes. I didn't realize you didn't have to keep vehicles in squadrons during an apoc battle. Also, need much more air power/ anti air for a battle of that magnitude. That problem was solved as I acquired 3 more vendettas and a vulture gunship in a trade. Finally, the 650pts I spent on the imperial fortress was a supreme waste. Macharius was a sitting duck in the fortress and his Chimera doesn't fit the bill for a commander of that magnitude. So, that's why I decided to build a Leviathan.
I'm not going to build one as large as the ones I've seen online. Though the one built by Dannage is awesome. I stole my idea from Kid Kyoto, but it is going to be much smaller than his. Purchased, an Imperial Bastion, Shrine of aquila, and the rest I should be able to make from my bits box. Here's how she is looking so far.

Awesome! Thanks for the shout out!

I remember when the bastions came out all i could see were the walls of a Leviathan.

What will you use for the tracks?

I got a bunch of left over Leman Russ/Chimera tracks. I'm going to painstakenly glue three row together which will put me slightly wider than a superheavy tracks. I got some leftover wheels from various kits as well

You need some of those ID shells for the vanquisher friend.

Nice work. I particularly like how you are using parts of the model packaging to build up the vehicle

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

looking good but I strongly suggest not using cardboard. It tends to warp and soak up paint.

A bag or two of plasticard will do the job and will work out much much better.

All the card board I've used has a corruggated cardboard backing plus a scrap sprue frame underneath. Seems to be pretty sturdy. I used the graphics side of the cardboard for the outlayer as it already has some sort of "paint" on it therefore it shouldn't absorb too much paint but you maybe right.
Also, I'm on a tight timeline so I don't have time to wait on plastic sheets. Hope I'm correct

@Brother SRM, I'm on a tight budget for this project and I have 15 years worth of Leman Russ tracks. I don't have any superheavy tracks

That looks really good. Using those two kits guarantees the Imperial motif is recognized. As someone whose pretty proud of my own attempt ( see gallery), I applaud your vision. Cant wait to see it finished.

The Frozen North

I wish that I would have seen this earlier, a cheap and easily accessable source for large sheets of plasticard for CHEAP would be going to your local home improvement store and looking for the FOR SALE signs. They are typically made from styrene sheet about a half mm to a mm thick and can be had for very little. Something to consider even at this stage. Good lluck on this project, I have been wanting to do something similar for a while.

You say that I am crazy. I say that you are right!

Yeah, I've used plasticard before but its hard to cut. This is the first time I've worked with cardboard on this type of scale and so far seems much easier and forgiving. I understand it has the propensity to warp but I've reinforced all the pieces with multiple layers and gave it a scrap sprue. Done with the hull. Working on the tracks now.

Thanks. It was a royal pain in the arse gluing them together especially when I ran out of the longer links and had to glue individual links together.

Cdrs in hatches are always in the way when storing the model , BUT as a centerpiece this model deserves appropriate ruffles and flourishes befitting a Cmnd vehicle.
