So I just got a batch of guard in and they had some custom helmets. After looking at them I immediately thought of the NCR ranger vets from Fallout New Vegas. I was wondering what people on dakka thought if I painted these guys like the Ranger Vets from NV, would it be a cool homage to such a great game or would it be a lame way to make guard look weird.

Either way, how should I go about doing this?

Thanks in advance! Here is a couple pics of Fallout NV ranger vets and one of the guardsmen (I got 40) for comparison!

Resin Printer (minaitures) is a 4K printer with one of the largest build volumes available for a resin printer (192mm x 120mm x 245mm) with an amazing .01mm resolution! This professional printer is one of the best resin printers on the market!

FDM Printer (terrain) also has one of the largest build volumes available for an FDM printer (400mm x 400mm x 450mm) and has an amazing ,05mm build accuracy.

You paint your army however you want mate. Sounds like a good idea to me, I was actually disappointed to open this and not see one painted

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Undercoat white, wash a couple of times with a heavy black wash. Pick out details such as unit markings in white, then wash again with a medium black wash.

I would perhals do one less wash of black on either the armour or fatigues so that they are not quite so monochrome. Looking at the first picture, the fatigues look darker than the armour, so I might give the armour less heavy washes.

For browns and so on, I would wash with a mid-yellow then hit with whatever the darm-mid brown wash is called these days, being careful to use a damp, clean brush to clear the wash from the raised surfaces as much as possible and flush it into the recesses.

For the visors I would use an ink of an appropriate colour to give it a glossy look. If you repaint the visor white (if you need to - depends how careful washing the model black you were ), then hit it with a sepia or brown wash, using a damp clean brush to flush the wash clear of most of the lens and concentrate it around the edges before inking it, you should get a nicer, dirtier looking lens.
