Since OĆche Samhain has rolled around, I thought I'd post up my Mantic Undead (with some GW) that I've painted up in the last month. I set myself the deadline of Hallowe'en to get them done. I was sort of inspired by Grimdork's excellent hobby blog for this, though I was not organised enough to blog all the way through. Here's the fruits of my labours-
Necromancers and a Wraith

A converted Banshee

Revenant King

Vampire

Skeleton Regiment

Revenant Regiment

Revenant Cavalry

Zombie Regiment

Ghoul Regiment

Not photographed are some Balefire Catapults and another regiment of Skeletons with hand weapons. All the miniatures were sprayed with army painter colours (desert brown or necrotic flesh) and painted using washes for the most part- cloth was PP brown wash over Devlan mud. Bone was devlan mud over basecoat. Armour and weapons were painted with tin bitz, then drybrushed bronze, then got a coat of PP turquoise ink to make it look corroded. Ghoul skin was just leviathan purple over the base and Zombies were thraka green over flesh wash or flesh over thraka green! Easy peasy and very fast to paint, though a little sloppy in places perhaps!

Hmm that's a lot of undead knocked out . I will come back to comment on specifics after work tonight, hard to see on my phone.

Damn, they look pretty darn good for such a speed painting. The Skeleton regiment seems filled with color and I really like the Revenant Cavalry. I wish they had a brighter spot color for that extra "omph" on the table top, but they look damn good.

Ahh didn't even notice the shout-out to my blog, thanks

Now that I've had a better look:

Love Mhorgoth (or however you spell it), and all of your characters, they really stand out against the minions.

The converted banshee looks cool, where did the torso originate? It *almost* looks dark eldar-ish, but not quite.

What are you using the little round base rising skeletons for? Counters? They look cool regardless

I like the nurgle chaos lord mixed in with the zombies

Any plans for more undead, or have you got some other project in the works?

Cheers lads! The troops were really fast to paint, basically 4 hours for 10 troops start to finish including drying times. They do look a bit brown all over, I kinda wonder if I shouldn't have gone for rusted steel rather than corroded bronze for the armour, but I wanted them to look like a properly ancient civilisation.

The Banshee is like most of my conversions- a desperate scramble to recover from disaster! The body and reaching arm are from the GW Banshee, the plastic one. I lost her head, hair and other arm in a house move so I had to figure out something. Of course, I was short on female looking heads, so I grabbed the hooded head from the skeleton sprue from mantic and the clothed arm holding a sickle from the same sprue and put them on.

Nurgle Chaos lord is just an excuse to use that mini, in game he'll be a Revenant King if I use him.
Morgoth was a dead simple paintjob but he's looking good! I love the model.

The skellies on the round bases come with the mantic sprues, I haven't thought of a use for them yet but I painted them up- eventually they'll probably find use as markers or as part of scenery!

The undead are nearly finished, I have one more GW vampire to paint and I'm thinking of adding a Zombie Dragon too. The only other thing left to do is to convert the hexwraiths from the black knight kit into a regiment of Wraiths! I'm dead pleased to have finished them, they had been sitting in their bags for 2 years waiting for some attention!

Ahh yeah, sounds like you're getting on well with the project then. I look forward to more progress
