Alright, so after a few months of debating with myself, I think I finally found how I am going to paint my crimson fists, I spent a few hours in photoshop on the pic and then ten minuets in MS paint and this is my concept, what do you think? Below the concept is the original crimson fists.

I really hated almost every space marine color scheme I've seen from GW besides space wolves, blood angels, and raven guard. I love all the crimson fists lore and I love the army, I just CANT stand that blue. I think the scheme I put together would have to be my favorite ever. I actually have models with cloaks and what not, but most will just be that grey/ dark grey color and crimson fists without cloaks. I like to read the lore and picture these grey/red badasses rather than a bunch of blue morons.

Thanks. I just gotto ask everyone (as of now its 4-1 in favor of original blue), do you guys think the blue looks good? Am I alone in thinking that the blue just doesn't look at all appealing? Is it the fact that its not a GW scheme? Someone help me see from your perspective.

I vote for blue because
1) I don´t have problem with blue schme
2) When you want play Crimson fist you have no choice in scheme, scheme is define

I like your scheme too but it isn´t Crimson fists scheme. Use your scheme and give chapter new name and everything is fine.

I have no problem with your scheme it's just there not crimson fists as such if you give them a slightly different name ie iron fists and run them as crimson fists then there no problem.

I think both look great, conscripts look more enjoyable to paint for me, blue looks easier and faster to paint, you could do a highbred and do a conscript look with a blue shoulder pad to give recognition to the original paint scheme.

Personally, I like the original CF scheme. The grey and red scheme looks good, but it is not "Crimson Fist" to me. It would make for a good IF successor chapter. I would do them as an DIY successor chapter with CF chapter traits. Ultimately, if you don't like the CF color scheme, you won't enjoy painting it and chances are you won't finish it. If you like the Red/Grey scheme, then do it.

I voted for the custom scheme you came up with, because it's your army and nobody can tell you how to pain it. I like it, it's striking and the look with the ash robes is pretty menacing.

Your custom color scheme, along with the robed look, makes me think of the Inquisition's scheme for their troops. If you're coming up with original fluff for your army, you might think about the idea of them being one of the Inquisition's allied space marine chapters. Or if you're set on using the name Crimson Fists, just say that this is the "X or Y Reserve Company" or something to that effect, just make something up. I did that with my army (Crimson Fists 4th Company Auxiliary Force)

I like the look of your scheme, but I think you'd have to do them as a successor chapter, it would be a bit like saying 'I like the the lore of the ultramarines, but I don't like the blue. So I'm going to paint them orange with pink hands' (very extreme example, I know) everyone knows und associates crimson fists with that blue and of course the crimson fist etc. .. thats how it's been since the rogue trader book came out..

Off course they're your models and you can paint them how you like and call them what you want. ;-)

The cloaks and stuff make the first look way too dark angely.

You could try a dark grey armor, red trim hands and red fist emblem. might look nice. (secondary as executioners (i believe they had grey armor and red emblems)

Agreed, either successor chapter them or say these are MY crimson fists. After all it's your stuff. Some people say my marines have too much of a comic book feel or that I line in too hard. But I love the way they are.

First of all , thank you to everyone who has voted and an even bigger thank you for those who have posted.

Just a question, when does it change that I have to run them as not "The Chrimson Fists"? If it is a darker blue can I still run them as "The Crimson FIsts"? If it is a lighter blue can I still run them as "The Crimson Fists"? If it is an almost black blue can I run them as "The Crimson Fists"? If it is an almost white blue can I run them as "The Crimson Fists"? If they are grey with crimson colored fists (or fist if they are not the appropriate rank), can I run them as "The Crimson Fists"?

I just don't understand where to draw the line, I mean, I would personally would sooner allow pink marines with crimson fists to be called "The Crimson Fists" than the "appropriate" blue marines without crimson fists to be called "The Crimson Fists".

Bottom line is you can use them for whatever you want and paint them however you want. There is no rule stating you can't use the Crimson Fists traits and paint your guys yellow with pink polka dots.

As long as you make it clear what they are using for chapter traits and its on your army list it makes no difference at all how you paint them. Ignore anyone telling you how they have to be painted. Simply put, you can do whatever you want, they are your models. No one will come to your door and tell you to repaint your marines...despite what some here may have you believe, lol.

I am sorry but I must be missing something..

What is "Crimson Fists" Traits?

Is it not Captain Pedro that makes them CF? (Which is really IF with Scoring Sternguards)

So as long as Pedro is appropriately WYSIWYG then no problem. (Wrist mounted storm bolter, power fist and banner)

If you declare IF Chapter Tactics you can use Pedro no problemo. I'm going to be painting a Pedro up to fit my chapter and using him, with a "Vote 4 Pedro" Banner. As long as people know what you're doing you're fine. I'm sure people will complain oh they're not the Crimson Fists, then just say, the fists are crimson, this is the hiterto unkown 12th chapter, the Ashen wastes, specializing in Volcano warfare or some such.

Love the concept scheme, very unique and different, but it is not the crimson fist.

Why don't you make you own lore with the new scheme?
