Hi guys,
Been admiring all the awesome painting and thought I bite the bullet and upload some of mine as I go through them.
Hope I uploaded the stuff correctly.
I do need help with 2 things if anyone can advise me:
1) How do I highlight the Warplock Bronze?
2) Does anyone know where we can buy corkboard for basing in Melbourne, Australia?
Thanks for any criticisms and assistance.

The colors clash a little, and some edge highlighting on all the armor would make it pop more, but, yes, once based, it will be table top quality.

The easiest way to highlight a color is to simply use a slightly brighter color or the exact same color after applying a wash to it.You could either do an edge highlight like you did on the shoulder pads, or a little more broad and leave the recesses a darker shade using thinned paint.

Could you point out where the clash is? Is it the gun and the shoulder pads?
I might try to use green on the tube and the power pack then rewash it.
@Bobaram: Can you recommend a colour to highlight the Bronze? Would using Nuln Oil and just recolouring with Bronze be sufficient do you reckon?

I think it's the purple shoulderpads that clash with the bone look of your warrior. I think the bone look is cool, but the purple on top just doesn't fit the look. You could try a colour wheel to help you plan out colours that compliment themselves.http://colorschemedesigner.com/
that might help you out. If you wanted to go purple I think you should darken it to almost black. Black goes with pretty much anything and, if you highlight it'll look great. Maybe a dark metallic purple?

That is a nice link.
Funny thing is I tried the yellowish bone colour and its compliment was purple -.-
Well trial and error.
Thanks for the assist guys. Please feel free to keep offering criticisms.

@Dirt: here is a recommendation that will dramatically increase your painting skill. If your wanting a bronze on for the bulk of the painting of the body, put bronze on and use a septia wash, the dry brush bronze on him again, or do a mix of 3 parts bronze with 1 part bolt gun metal and then dry brush it on. Then with the purple shoulder pad, paint a dark purple and then dry brush the edge with a slightly lighter shade of purple, then you can highlight with an even lighter purple. Don't go to light. As for the gun for a cool effect Bloch on scorpion green and white in and a mild green in a camo pattern then use a green wash the whole thing, it will look strange but we aren't done... Once it drys on where you feel just touch the edges of areas with green and scorpion green for highlights. If you'd like I can show you step by step what I mean. Automatically Appended Next Post: If you are set on the yellow bone look, paint it that bone color then septia wash him, then dry brush him with the yellow bone color (heavy dry brush once or twice), then take white mixed with a little of the yellow bone look and dry brush again (lightly! go over him once)

Thank you Shinoden. Considering how great your painting skills are with those Harlequin Dark Eldar, I am sure your advice will be most useful.
Currently for my bone, I am painting them (Base) Bleached Bone (Ushabti Bone) and 2 layers of Seraphim Sepia and that is it.
Are you saying I should drybrush with the Bleached Bone and then with Skull White?
(Is mixing a must or can I achieve Tabletop without, I paint directly from the bottle so no mixing experience)
I think I got what you mean with the gun. I will give it a try. Would not complain if you make a Step by Step for everyone

If you want to achieve a bone effect, start with a base of the darkest color. Cover the whole area with what you want bone. Then dry brush with bleached bone, and then a very light dry brush of white that will give you table top quality in a heart beat.

I assume you want to achieve a look similar to this. It's a bleached bone base with a seraphim sepia wash then dry brush with bleached bone. You can take a step further with the light drybrush of white if you want.

Agree on the basing. I think with the warrior, one simple idea would be to replace the green parts on the gun with purple. I think it would bring it all together and remove any clash. Also, consider adding more purple to parts of the Armour.

You can highlight bronze with either a wash then bronze, or if you want a nice bright look go with gold or brass highlights on top.
