Yeah the title grabbed you didn't it? You see a title like that and you just can't help yourself.

So anyway, I got a little parcel in the mail this morning. Contained my brand spanking new Flying Assault Butts, made by Dakka's very own Ouze. I've been hanging to get my hands on these ever since the KS ended.
I've never dealt with resin before so this should be interesting. As far as casting goes, they look excellent. No bubbles, no warped parts. There's a bit of flash on some of the wings to clean up but that won't be a problem.
And can I just say, a better set of rear ends I've never seen!

Here's a group shot of them still in the packaging.

A shot of FAB-1. The butts come made in a flesh toned resin. Very ingenious Mr Ouze.

The Vampire butts. These things are so damn cool with their little pointy teeth and Dracula style haircuts.

And, because Ouze is such a top-notch bloke, he even threw in a extra Ol' Ironbutt because the orders were late getting out. He also painted it!

I'll get some more photos up after dinner. Maybe even assemble a few.

Ah typical me to forget that people won't have a clue what I'm talking about.

Ok, back in May, Nuts & Bolts thread about kickstarters caused Ouze to make this post...

In fact, I'm just waiting for my Amazon payment setup to finish to launch my kickstarter. So, technically, my project is more real than theirs.

All joking aside though - now that we officially now have pre-kickstarter kickstarter threads, is there ever any intention to sort of... I dunno, moderate the threads to separate the wheat for the chaff? How do you determine if a project s "real" or not? I mean, this is a problem that I imagine is going to snowball over time.

I initially partook of a lot of these "lets make a kickstarter forum" threads when they started, as I'm sure you remember, but you and Yakface convinced me that indeed, kickstarters in general are no more or less newsy than other projects. But pre-kickstarters? I'm yet unconvinced.

Followed by this kickstarter.
Blah blah blah, skip forwards to December months later and you get to my barely coherent and badly thought out thread about flying butts, wherein I rant and ramble about stuff people don't understand. You post that you don't know what I'm talking about, I post trying to explain to you, and then we get to where we are now.

Well fant-ass-tic. To think I thought FAB were Fuel-Air-Bombs or Russian Incendiary Bombs... You live and learn.

This thread is full of win!

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

Hopefully it'll only get better.

Ok so i've been having some trouble uploading photos of the FABs. (hence the lack of thread content).

But here's a shot of the 2 Ironbutts together. I'm about to start painting the one on the left. I'm just waiting for his undercoat to dry.

They remind me of Darleks.

And here's the little turbine that sits on top.

This is actually a really cool little piece of kit. I reckon Ouze could sell these 10 to a pack and Ork players would snap them up.
YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH TURBINES!

Ouze just made them because he could. They aren't really intended for any one game system as far as I know.

That being said, you could proxy them as bomb squigs or something. House rule them so that instead of an explosion of fire and shrapnel they could just release a large blast marker of poisonous gas. Say... S1 ap3. poisoned (2+).

I can't wait to see them painted up.

I'd also like to say that we need to be careful with butt related puns and jokes. I mean, *I* obviously think they are funny but that hasn't been a universally shared opinion and it would would be unfortunate for the thread to be locked or banished to the OT as has happened previously, especially before they even got painted. Butts are srs bsnss.

You should wash them first, since the 2 part molds had mold release. I wash them in lukewarm water with a little dish soap.

If you're going to transport these around, you might want to pin the wings. After that I do prime them. I specifically do it all with an airbrush, I use Vallejo Surface Primer, (or a spraycan) and then the rest I would paint with Minitaire.

Ah ok.

I forgot to give them a clean, so I can do that before I prime them. I've pinned the wings, so no problems there. I have an airbrush, but I can't use it to save myself. Plus I think broke it last time I cleaned it. So rattlecans and paintbrushes for me.

I only started using the surface primer a few months ago myself. Virtually every model I have ever done was primed with a spraycan, and the vast majority of the remainder I did by hand with a paintbrush as well

You should never forget to clean your butt. You won't be able to prime your butt properly unless it's clean of all the lube that was used to help it release.

Sorry I couldn't help myself, I'll stop now

I'll have a go at hand brushing them. I'll just wing it and see how well I do. I've got a larger sized brush I'm gonna use. It's not quite a tank brush but it's bigger then what you'd use for a standard model. Hopefully that'll leave less streaky brush marks.

motyak wrote:Woo! An aussie has his stuff, I might have it when I get back from the beach! Super excited now
Yeah man. Hopefully you'll get yours soon. We'll have a butt-off to see who's got the better butts.

Don't worry mate. A thread like this is bound to bring out the most childish in us. It's ok they, we have a mod watching over us.

You know, you've convinced me to have a crack at homebrewing some rules for them.

Kilkrazy wrote:An airbrush would be the easiest way to give them a super highlighted appearance on the rotundities.
Yeah no doubt. No airbursh skills and no airbrush to use at the moment unfortunately.

Ruglud wrote:Must. Resist. Skid. Mark. Jokes... Must. Resist...
I want to make a diorama of a butt who's crashed into the ground and left a "skid mark" crash impact.

~~~
Alrighty then. Time for some butt related content. I was having trouble getting the FAB related photos to upload, but with some advice from the ever knowledgeable Legoburner my problem has been solved.
So here are the 5 FABs all put together and and ready for priming.
Seriously, I don't ever want to stick anything up an anus again. Forcing those flying stands up the pre-drilled holes made me cringe a little.
This FAB here is going to be a birthday present for a good friend of mine. She appreciates a good arse and her favourite show is Buffy the vampire slayer. So she'll get a kick out of a bum with bat wings. I had thought about giving her the Vampire butts, but I only have one of them so I think she can settle for a FAB instead.
And last up for the butt related content is the other ironbutt, who I have called Ol' Clanker. I tried to give it a old worn out look by doing oil stains under the rivets. I think I may have overdone it a bit though. He's not quite done yet though and this is a pretty crappy pic.
I'll finish him off tomoz. Seriously Ouze, those little turbines are frigging sweet. I really can't say it enough.
