Hey all! decided to show some love for my Necrons army and use this blog to keep myself motivated and hold myself accountable =). I've never liked the color-scheme of the typical lazy-metal-crons, so I went for something that's a little different yet still look like mean killing machines.
We all love pretty pictures so i'll try to keep the photography presentable.

Currently working on 30 tesla immortals that are painted to various stages. This is my first near-finished batch.

My super friendly wraiths (WIP) wanted to magnetize their claws/whip coils but obviously thats never going to happen

Then my trusty cannon fodder *cough* warriors. I've always hated the glowsticks/lego light-saber rods so i've borrowed an idea from the internets and trimmed the Gauss rifle down. Now they look like little shotguns =) (Please excuse how their wires are all different colors... this is because i have no idea what color i want to paint them yet! lol)

I have a decent list of models to paint. I'll try and get an army shot so we can use that as my to-do list or something.. *note to self*

Anyways, hope you like em!

They look great, I love the sheme. Also slightly jealous of you because they look good consistently. Usually when I paint mobs the individual models end up looking somewhere between hardly passable and great, and that looks bad on a table. Your necrons look awesome on the field, just looking at them makes me want to set up a battle. Also good photography. I'll be following!

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

Thanks man! I hear you about keeping models consistent. The first few ones always look the best as you spent more time on it. Then once you have to paint 30-50 of them it's hard to keep up that same level of detail/effort. Thats why i've jumped around in the army paint a few warriors here, then wraiths, then jump to annihilation barge, etc etc. Thats why almost nothing is 'finished' hahaha but at least when you play games everything has a bit of paint =). It's a gradual process, just need to put the hours into it!

These look great. I half expected to see just rusty necrons, but this brown and grey looks so smooth and beautiful. Also I think the yellow wire on your fodder's guns looks most striking without overpowering the rest of the color scheme.

somewhow, I susppect that even pinp-polka-dots-on-neon-green necrons will still look good...... my only complaint about these necrons is that the glow effect looks a bit off.

But... but... necrons are grey metal... It's like you are warping the laws of physics and i like it! Good to see a swap up in color choices.

Haha, you're right. thats why if you look closely the insides and their 'spines' are still metal. It's more like they gave themselves a little bit of a paint job.

Here's a batch of WIP Annihilation Barges that im working on at the moment. Was over ambitious to do all 3 at once, still want to add a bunch of details, but figured i should post something here since I'm trying to document my progress!

Please excuse the headless pilots, lol

to-do on these:
Edge highlights on entire model
Add some weathering/details/wash to the gun. it looks too clean and lacks depth
Find and add heads to pilots =)
Pick out more details so that there are more things to look at in general

hmmm.. I'm wondering about the ceramic white after all. I'm thinking I'd now like to see a bit of tarnish/dirt on them in the crevices, and a touch of highlighting here and there. The brown has a healthy worn look to it, and the ivory is flashy new.

I agree, it needs some way of blending them together (ceramic white + brown) as right now it looks too different. I did including weathering my next to-do list (at the bottom of previous post) =) Thanks for the comment!

Dakkon,

What color are you using for your necrons? They look great.

annnnnnddddd Brown-crons are back!!!

After the excitement from the latest codex now I'm back to work on my crons =) Had a little distraction with DE, etc. but now I'm back! =)

Have 2 Ghost arks lying around and now with the new buffs I've finally decided to put them together. Here's a WIP update of what i got so far.

the ribcage

and with some imagination, we can kind of see it come together.... hehe

Please note, these are very WIP. only color is from my sprayed primer/basecoat + dry brushing silver on black to get an overall picture of what it'll look like.

Hey all, just a tiny update with pretty pictures =)

Played a game yesterday vs my brother's Tau was an uphill battle. First time against his Tau list so we were just experimenting to see how 'shooty' they are... (bad idea ) hopefully next game i'll be more aware of my positioning and range. Although my Warrior Phalanx supported by 2 ghost arks were amazing. Took wounds left and right and after 4+ reanimation AND Ghost Arks repairing, they were in good shape all game.

The table next to us had this really sweet terrain for campaign games, so I quickly borrowed it for some photos of my immortals =) *note to self - base my troops!*

That's all, have a great one guys

They look beautiful. I like that you've done away with the long barrel on the warriors' guns.

Also started on my Monolith. Each of the panels are magnetized so I can take it apart for easy storage. Early base coat + washing/dry brushing so far. Needed to throw some paint on it to field it in some games first =)

WIP!

I would use a colour other than brown for the base, just to break it up a bit more, but other than that they look fantastic.

The brown tones actually work really well for the Necrons. I'd never have thought of using it myself. Nice one!

Wow, those are amazing. I love the brown instead of the standard silver/grey. Looks almost rusty and ancient, as they should!
