So with the coming of the new codex I have returned to my nids. The last time I painted a nid was over 2 years ago and boy does it show. I brought out my old tyrant so I could make sure thier colours fit together and boy you can see the difference in the paint job. It is reasuring to know that all that practice and the hundreds of models painted between the two has had an effect on my skill level.

It would be great to see other peoples pictures of early / latest models (even better if it's the same kit).

Perturbed Blood Angel Tactical Marine

Vaughan

Nice impovement, the colour transition on the Today shot is very smoothe.

My first army was a 3rd ed. Space Marine army that essentially consisted of being primed black and yellow trim similar to that of the smurfs. They were known colloquially as the 'bumblebee army'. Since then I've deveoped quite a bit. I'll have to make a point of adding my current marine army and WIP shots of my taudar to my gallery.

Purge the heretic.

The DW Terminator isn't even what I would consider my best work, but it is probably the best example I have in my gallery.

EDIT: ScootyPuffJunior....how many years did that take you?
Well I have only been painting for a little over a year but I went from this:

To this (a few models just to show)

Not really the greatest improvement but it has only been a year of on off painting. Still learned highlighting, thinning paints, washes, wet blending etc etc.
My new Eldar army looks quite good I just don't have any decent pictures. My Tau also look pretty decent too.

I'm not sure how but I think my painting skills have decayed over my break from the hobby. I'm getting better (sorta) though!

I love this thread. The precedent is very original and the contributions speak volumes about our journey as hobbyists. The examples give me hope in my own skill for the future.

This thread should be stickied!
