Best (cheap and easy) way to make guard with bolt guns?

You COULD, buy bolt pistols off ebay in mass, then using odds and ends mount them on the guards shoulder then give all the guardsmen some bionic eyes or laser pointers or something.

Might work if pulled off... might...

One of the Forgeworld weapon packs? The Umbra pattern might be delicate enough for humans. If you use the lasgun arms the you should be able to retain the lasgun stock and make the bolters fired from the shoulder rather than the marine method of basically snap-firing everything. Damn auto senses and targetters

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

These are the perfect size for 'normal human' bolters.

Another vote for Anvil, I've bought loads from them and it's all been great.
Shotguns, bolters, sniper rifles, weapon accessories ... all good kit.

I to am making acolytes. I'd love to see some pictures. Right now I've made an OK model using all GW bits. I took a standard cadian with a grenade launcher, clipped the hand with the launcher off, then glued one of the new tactical marine bolters (with the hand on it) and glued it to the guard's severed wrist. When I assembled the arms I was able to angle it so it looks like the bolter has a hand on the left side for the guy to hold onto. The process while simple in practice is a bit time consuming, and I plan on making like 60 of these guys

Here are some unpainted pics of my proof of concept model.

Simple, used a scout head and a set of grenade launcher arms. The launhcer itself is cut off at the wrist and a new tactical marine bolter fits in the same spot.

You can see how much larger the hand looks. I chose to use the marine hand becouse its easier for me to cut the grnade arm at the wrist then it is to get a clean cut removing the hand from the new tactical squad bolters.

You can see the hanfle on the side of the bolter. I chose this becouse this is how guard are depicted holding a plasma gun, another marines sized weapon.

Have you ever seen the bolters from the Deathwatch kits from GW? They're old school and such are smaller then standard bolters. they work very well. I just cut the lasguns out of the guardsmen hands and placed these smaller bolters in their place.

Sorry I don't have any guardsmen pics, but I've been told several times they worked out perfectly.

I don't like mixing metal and plastics, and that would be like 2.50 a bolter.

I'd love to see a pic though, if you could snap one?

Maybe go third party for a rifle type weapon. Essentially the bolter we know and love is a space marine version of the weapon. No reason you couldnt find a decent rifle model and retcon it to be a bolter.

Anvil industries do some nice rifles.

Lucky for me, I was building a Counts as GK Deathwatch army and had no better use for those bolters since my marines where using stormbolters.

Better late than never:

Those are the Firestorm Carbines that I mentioned from Anvil Industries.
Other parts are Cadian plastics, Maxmini helmeted and bald head, Dreamforge metal Eisenkern right arm, and Victoria Miniatures legs on the left.
