Okay, many are talking about this on the rumor thread. We do not know yet if IKs can be used by Chaos yet, however, here are my thoughts.

1.) Humans that used knights were discovered during the crusades prior to the heresy, and were welcomed back in the human fold.
2.) Some knight houses would have allied themselves to legions prior to the heresy.
3.) Chaos have titans already (not saying knights are titans, only titan models exist for chaos).
4.) It would stand to reason some knight houses stayed true to the rebel legions, had to flee and stayed with them, and their walkers would have been used by traitor legions after the human pilot died...

Thoughts?

I can't see a fluff reason that would preclude the existence of chaos knights. If there's a chaos admech, it stands to reason there'd be some Knightly equivalent on the chaos side.

Weren't there official models/rules for chaos knights? I remember seeing something about Slaanesh lancers or similar.

Aren't Knights just for the IG? Or can SM also take them?
If SM have them, it makes sense for CSM to also have them.
And otherwise you can just use Knights as part of your Chaos Guard army.

The Chaos Knights from epic were more daemon engines iirc, especially the Slaanesh Subjugator. (Were there even any others?)

http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Knight

"Horus' initial assault devastated many cities and strongholds. Amongst the victims were the world's rulers -- the nobles of House Devine. Dispossessed and unable to fight back, the Devine family slowly succumbed to the temptations of Chaos. Over the following months, the insidious whispers ofSlaanesh spread through their fatigued ranks. Their officers became lethargic and interested only in their sports, using their mighty machines to hunt down the wild animals of Molech. The grip of the Prince of Pleasure grew stronger as he bent the will of the Devine. Soon, they began to meet in secret cabals, commiting depraved rites and ceremonies within the heart of the Loyalist camp. No act was too shameful or disgusting to them, as the sensations of the moment became their only desire. When Horus launched a massive offensive against the Imperial forces, the Knights of House Devine betrayed those loyal to the Emperor. The Loyalists found themselves trapped, caught between the advancing enemy forces and the Renegade Knights attacking from behind. This treachery allowed theForces of Chaos to punch through the Imperial lines, blocking any routes of escape. Of the entire Imperial host only one in a hundred survived the campaign. Molech was a crushing defeat to the Imperium, opening the road to Terra and allowing the Warmaster to launch his final assault on the Sol system. This occurrence was the first betrayal conducted by a Knight House, and since that time, many Knight Houses have been corrupted throughout the millennia. Many of the machines' pilots have long since died, but their souls continue to live on as daemons, occupying the shells of their war walkers. The Knights themselves have also mutated, sprouting claws, tails and other horrendous natural weapons as blessings of the Dark Gods. When the war machines of a Knight House dedicated to the Ruinous Powers marches onto the battlefield, it spreads havoc, despair and death."

There it is! Chaos knights!

Slaanesh had a whole range of chaos knights. The other gods were gave all sorts of deamonengines. A chaos knight might happen but is unlikely

I still have some of that old stuff, plus two Imperator Titans that I converted to Chaos.

Good times.

Knights aren't for the IG, as far as I know, Knights are for Knight Households. They are independent fighting forces that may pledge themselves to the Imperium or Admech. Neither IG nor SM "have" them, but either might fight alongside them.

Edit: and by the same logic, whether they really existed in the old Epic fluff or not, I see no reason why there wouldn't be Knights that fell to chaos. I am hoping that the "Freeblade" mercenary option that's rumored will be available to CSM to fill this gap.
