The oldest tank belonging to the 5th regiment the Demons Bane had a long and venerable history. Formerly known as the Terra it gained it's current name after blowing a blood thirster apart. It's paint is fading in several spaces reveling the hard steel below. Corrosion may eat at it's rivets but the Demons Bane is always on the 5th regiments front line.

For only just beginning at freehand you're doing very well!
I, however, would recommend a white micropen, they make for writing a lot easier.
Good work on the green but the silver could do with a wash of Nuln Oil and you really should paint the tracks, it'd help to stop it becoming a big, green blob.
Can't really see the tank commander but he looks quite good, very WWII style, I like it.

Comrade! Allow me to pass on my personal knowledge of painting Leman Russ tanks.
Paint the tracks black and drybrush with leaderbelcher. Then wash with nuln oil and aggrax earthshade. I also tried slapping on Typhus Corrosion onto the tracks and then drybrushing Lead Belcher onto that. Either one looks okay.
Get Nuln Oil and wash it into the recesses. It'll really give depth to your dark green color scheme. Also slather it onto the gunmetal part to tone it down. In the Guard, keeping barrels chrome shiny is not something to be concerned about. You may also want to try some weather techniques. Play around with Typhus Corrosion with it. Patches of Ryza Rust on top would help too.

Dont worry about painting the tracks if you dont want to. I dont. For me the tracks are sprayed with everything else and also makes sense from a camo perspective. I personally think different coloured tracks are a bit ugly.
All up to personal opinion. Be careful with the wash as you dont want to over do it. Especially on a model with lots of flat surfaces.
Looks cool so far though.

No, that makes no sense, because any paint you tried to put on the tracks would be worn off almost immediately.
As for how to do tracks: dull metal base coat, black wash, rub with graphite powder (pencil lead + sandpaper), add dirt-colored weathering powder to the low points. You can do the same thing, without the weathering powder, on exposed metal elsewhere. The idea is that the wash adds proper shading to the part, while the graphite gives a more realistic metallic look and smooths out the streaking and pooling that washes tend to leave behind.

I strongly disagree with this. GW washes leave hard edges between the wash and the unwashed paint next to it, which doesn't look right for shading or dirt on hard flat surfaces. Instead you want to use an oil paint wash, which will leave softer edges.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

I may have to try this. Any oil wash you recommend?
