Ok, gotta admit, looks like seeing ghosts
It always puzzles me why peeps ty the knot after so many years...but then again my wife and me did the same thing after what felt like ten years and two kids...apropos...you two moving from dink to new waters or what made the sudden change of martial status? You didn't get all romantic in your new home,or did you?
The kitchen setup is actually very clever, these shelves and cupboards were made to store lots of stuff and even wider stuff too and you get nice and wide working platforms.
Looking forward to these new adventures of the Dave show...
Best wishes to you two, and especially to ladygeek!
P.s. after so many years Dave something awkward happened...I started airbrushing...so a very belated thank you for that badger...works like a charm!
Cheers, vik

Great to see some activity from the master. Bit like Oden waking up!
Work area looks good , maybe got to work on that lighting. But plenty of room. Will there be a table set up?
Great to see you back and about a bit. You going to pop by the LoER comp, round 20 just started.

It's great to see you still around Vik! She actually proposed to me on Leap Day this year! We never really planned on getting married, but we've been together 6 years, she's not crazy, and has no kids, so Yeah Thanks buddy! Great news! It can be frustrating, but once you learn how to use the tool, the sky is the limit.

Thanks Cheese! The cabinets are actually in the basement- they were apparently old cabinets from the kitchen upstairs, but were moved down into the basement during some previous remodel before we bought the place. When I build more permanent benching, I think I'll definitely incorporate more cabinetry- just not sure yet if they will be cheap, Lowe's grade stuff, or used. We'll see what is available when we get there. Thanks man!

Oh yeah, lighting is basically non-existent. Ideally, I'd like to put in drop ceiling and recessed fluorescent fixtures with full spectrum daylight tubes, but I don't want it to look like I'm constantly welding down there either Some decisions still have to be made. Find the right mix.
We'll have benches, storage, gaming table (hard to photograph, but the area in the basement is a giant L-shaped room with a fireplace, the other section of the L is a storage/furnace room)
I will definitely check it out! I was afraid the League was gone! The link says we don't exist. But then I see most of us still around! Makes me feel proud!

The League is still going strong and growing stronger every day...well 10-11 weeks or so, as the terrain contest circulates.
Good to see some movement in these parts though.
Still jealous of the space you have, even your temporary area is more spacious than what I'm working in.

Well, we should figure out how to get this link active then
http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/The_League_of_Extraordinary_Riveters
It says we don't exist I'm very glad to hear the movement continues to grow! I've missed you all. I have so much back-reading to do!
The space is indeed impressive. It's the entire area of the living room, Dining room, and kitchen above me. I haven't measured or figured out square footage yet, but it's ample. It's dry, although back in the past, it has seen flooding, but the previous owner put drainage tile around the outside and it's only been wet when a little pinhole broke open on a water heater hose a couple of months back. That was so small of an event I could clean it up with towels and ran a fan on the rug to dry it out. It has a sump pump and I have a dehumidifier that keeps any air moisture out.
And it has a fireplace, but I will probably never use it to burn wood down here. We would use the fireplace right above it in the living room in an emergency situation.
At this point, I'm ready to get some primer over this midget circus freak pole dancing classroom as Damo so eloquently called it

As to your League. We have swelled the ranks. Though some are strangers, and some old timers have not been seen in some time. I am trying to put out a challenge, to all the old boys, this is the 20th round of the comp, and I want us to show these youngsters how to rivet. I. The last round there was a distinct lack of rivets.
I know you are not fully back yet, especially with the good news, but you illustrious input could be the spur we need.

The advantage of a basement fireplace... Heat rises, so a fire in it does a nice job of heating the entire house. Just make sure the thing drafts properly. Get it inspected, and if necessary, repaired, by a qualified sort. There is something quite pleasant about curling up by the fire with the Mrs.
The paint job on that lally column is killing me. Those are hand-prints?

But would not the apartment managers get pithy about rivets Vik? Best to sell them on the idea of the strength rivets give to structures!

Hazard stripes are a great way to warn people of dangers. You can put them in places such as along that lower ceiling part (tall people may bang their head), the pole (you have heard of barber poles?), around the fireplace, at the edges of any steps, the edges of tables... chairs...rugs... Along the designated walkway...
