So apparently after 2 years 6th edition rule books have been pulled and are being scrapped with 7th launching as early as next month.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/592379.page

Which means it's time for our regular list of completely false and made up rumors!

1 - 5th edition 4 years, 6th edition 2 years... so 7th edition 1 year? 8th edition 6 months? By 2017 we'll be starting a game using 104th edition, but finishing it under 105th. By 2018 with new editions appearing every few picoseconds the 40k rule set will achieve sentience and launch the world's nuclear arsonel in an attempt to fulfil its prime directive "there is only war".

2 - Close combat will be streamlined.

3. All ranged weapons will have a random range based on the fact that the bullets will get tired and trip over obstacles in the air.

Hand in your old, 6th Edition rule books that GW sold as a faulty, incomplete product and receive a complimentary 7th Edition book and an apology.

7th Edition will ship with all of the 6th Edition issues addressed.

7th Edition will ship with new, detailed artwork as well as meaningful background history that hasn't be recycled a hundred times.

The Pyrovore will be errata'd to become a terrifying harbinger of fear that will put the Heldrake, Wave Serpent, and Riptide to shame.

In order to compensate for the continually shortening rulebook lifespans, GW will move all products to Apple digital format only.

That way, you can enjoy GW products the way they were meant to be enjoyed- with monthly subscriptions!

4. Prescience will be nerfed. Hard. Biomancy will be the new chart to take.
5. Rapid fire has been removed. Instead, everything gets Salvo! Lasguns will be Salvo 2/3, Shuriken Catapaults will be Salvo 3/4 and Bolters will be Salvo 5/6. Heavy Bolters will remain Heavy 3 because feth Heavy Bolters.
6. The vehicle rules has been revamped. Instead of rolling on a peneration chart you instead use a little roulette table provided with the starter set to determine the result. We also including a little table so that you may bet on the results.
7. Only 1/4 of the book will be actual rules. The rest will be a guide on how to use Microsoft Word and how to publish works on fanfiction.com. Forging a Narrative has never been easier!
8. We have now included a line saying that Forge World is now official unless you don't personally own all of the books. Even if your opponent has them. Everyone must buy our books!
9. Distances will now be measured in milimeters, lengths will be measured in inches and height will be measured with a stick we have carved notches in uneven increments into. Forging a narrative!
10. We will now provide codices that are entirely blank so that you may insert you blatantly overpowered and lore breaking faction into. Codex: Stardust Empire will still be coming out as a supplement to Codex: Grey Knights.

They will only sell limited edition copies of the BRB. The book will now be leather bound and will cost 10 times what the current one does, but comes in a convenient dust cover and carrying case known as a bag.

The majority of the book will consist of a 9 foot long fold out. One side will have the FOC and the other the allied matrix, for easy learning and streamlining.

Superheavies will replace the mandatory HQ slot and will no longer have a point limit. Also they will no longer be faction specific. Phantom Titans for everyone!

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

True Line Of Sight will be removed, only to be replaced with ALOS (Actual Line of Sight), which requires a $120 GW "Skull-Cam" that displays ALOS on your tablet or phone. Note: Only available for iOS devices. The app and Skullcam sold separately.

The 'Allies Matrix' will be removed, in favor of "Full Throttle Narrative", where you can combine any codex with any other codex.

The Force Organization Chart is now optional.

The Universal Special Rules section will be replaced by "Multiversal" Special Rules, which are subject to change based on which combination of Codexii you build your army with, AS WELL AS the Codexii your opponent is using.

Nah. It'll be 30 Deathwing Terminators versus 6 Genestealers and a Broodlord.

I wish, this is the company that will say 6th is perfectly fine to your face without blinking, then jettison at the first chance it gets to sell you a new $100 rulebook that is better then that old horrible edition.

There will be no rules in the book. Just a blank notebook and pen so you can describe and draw how cool it will be when your space marine captain guns down 30 gaunts in a single turn and punches a carnifex in the face so hard its head comes out its butt.
