Being harsh, I'd say the head/ face needs more stark highlights - it kind of blends away at the moment whereas the face/ head is usually the focal point of the model.

The left hand shoulder pad design is too bland with one flat colour too.

I'd also have done the power cables a different colour to stand out from the hammer a bit.

That is being quite harsh though (I'm thinking how I'd look at it as an example of if I'd hire you on the basis of this as an example). The golds are lovely, as are the reds, and the armour shading/ highlighting looks nice and clean. I'd like to see it based and matte'd.

the paintjob looks good, but the photos are hurting you...
i always take my pics before i varnish...
you got some serious glare on the varnish, killing the look of the paintjob...

keep up the good work...

cheers

JohnDoe1990 it looks like a good start , did you reapply the base coat after the wash? It looks a little murky.

Thats better you can see it much better in those pics!
I really nice. the coloured areas are particularly nice the yellow and the red look really rich. Metal tones on the wolf heads on the hammer also catch my eye.
There is something about your photos that for some reason make your paint look uneven at first glance then you notice its the photos grain. I feel for you there I can never get good pics of my minis. if id pick out anything its the back pack top and rears of the shins don't seem to have a good gradient of colour.

Good work tho im sure your customer will be thrilled! Thanks for sharing!

Much nicer matte'd. The highlight on the face are much more prominent in these pics, and the basing looks nice. My colour comments on the shoulder details and the cabling stay, but It's a model I'd be happy to say I painted

Just out of interest, what is the ballpark for a commission like this? Not that I'm likely to commission stuff in the US, but I'm starting to commission a few pieces here and trying to get a feel for fair prices (more to not rip off people than get it cheaper - the guys who's done some stuff for me lately isn't the most commercially minded and I like to be fair).

He is going to come with a couple of Fenrisian wolves too. The price for this guy with the wolves will be around $55.00. Thanks again for the comments and constructive criticism. I will add more detail into my shoulder pads and cables in the future for sure, I need some more yellow paint in my range.

I think what is hurting you here is the background. I am having a really hard time distinguishing the mini form the background, both in color and texture. I would recommend a more neutral back ground.

I would also recommend looking into increasing your contrast. I realize you used an airbrush to apply the initials, but to really make things pop you need to go back and enhance the shadow and highlight. I have done quite a bit of airbrushing on miniatures, and I have found that when I start with a base coat of about 70% of what I want the highlight to be and then work down to the shadow I get pretty good results.

Overall though it is a pretty clean paint job from a technical perspective.

The second lot of pics is definitely better...

It's a nice, solid job. I would agree that some colour on the hammer cables would be nice, and I'm not a fan of the black shield... it's a big, distracting block of blackness in front of him that drags the eye away from the model.

The armour is nice and cleanly done though, and I suspect the highlighting will show up better IRL than it does in the pics...

I like that a lot more - lovely graduation on the sword - I'm assuming airbrushed?

Just a shame it's part of the footonarock meme that all sculptors seem to be using, but nice PJ nonetheless.
