With the release of the new Imperial Guard codex I have been trying to get my Vostroyan Army painted but I have hit a roadblock with my vehicles. I cannot pick a color scheme that I like.

I have it narrowed down to three schemes. What is your opinions?

Pick one you like and roll with it. They all look Vostroyan except maybe for the middle tank.

Ratius recently found the archived version of the GW site, it still has the official colour scheme:

The above tutorial that Senden just posted is very good and produces the 'GW Studio Look' for Vostroyan tanks. If that's what you're dead set on then by all means, use that tutorial.

I've found a faster and easier method to painting my Vostroyan tanks that produces good tabletop quality without a dizzying amount of drybrushing and paint mixing.

Here's a few examples of my vehicles:

The method for achieving this look for the vehicles is as follows:

Basecoat/Primer using flat black (I use Krylon flat black spraypaint)

Airbrush or hand paint a good thin layer of Karak Stone (Once called Kommando Khaki). I highly recommend using an airbrush to lay down this coat if one is available, as it's much much faster. Once you get the initial thin coat on, even it out with one to two more thin coats of paint hand brushed on.

Once you have that done, paint Leadbelcher on the tracks and other areas that will be bare metal.

Next, use Baylor Brown on all the areas you want to be copper or brass in color.

Now coat all the Baylor Brown spots you've painted with a good coat of Hashnut Copper.

After that, get a good medium brown ink wash and with a thin brush, paint it around all the rivets and recesses/joints where armor plates meet, trailing it down on random rivets to look like rust running down the side of the tank. I use old school Flesh Wash (I don't think it's available any longer, but you can find something close to it in the Vallejo line I expect) to accomplish this.

Lastly, I hit the tracks with the same Flesh Wash shade a little more liberally, along with a good black wash as well over the top of it. Gives them a nice used look.

Lastly, I use Seraphim Sepia over the entire tank to give it a nice weathered look.

After that, it's detail work like painting the green jewel/lens effect on the view ports of the tanks, and armor chipping and damage.

If you wish, you can use a lighter bone white color drybrush to pick out the highlight/edging detailing. I prefer to just let the wash do the work for me in that regard personally, though.

I hope that helps, and best of luck with your vehicles sir. I look forward to seeing your progress!

Take it easy for now.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.
