I wanted my Scions to fit in a little more with my Vostroyan army. I plan on doing a whole Militarum Tempestus detachment using this scheme. Please forgive the camera quality.

Thank you. I based them off of the real life 18th century Scottish Black Watch. I really like those Victorian miniatures. I used the kilt legs for mine.

Yea I noticed, and I love it when history and imperial forces come together.
One criticism is that the base doesnt show off the model as much as it could.
But id be very excited to fight against models like this.

The base actually isn't finished. I can't decide if I want it to be snow like the parent detachment or dirt and grass. I feel the snow on the bases would make the model stand out more though.

Thats true, but snow in those outfits can be pretty uncomfortable. Either way once the base has been done thats a very cool scheme, expect decent resale on a unit painted like that.

Yeah thats the one thing that made me reluctant to just do snow in the first place haha. Yeah this project is going to take awhile. 2.5 hours per model x 40 models haha

Yea the guy who painted mine was pretty sick of it after doing 10. Best models he painted, but also hardest to complete. At least your guys have masks so faces wont be an issue. Any plans to make a bagpiper?

Oh the faces will be a joy haha. The tempestors are the only ones with masks in my army. I'm not using any of the scion helmets either. And yes infact I planned on having a bagpipe count as my standard bearer

Awesome, I feel sorry for my men, their bagpipe is their Vox caster!
I really look forward to your other guys and I hope to see them finished.

Painted another today. Looking for opinions on what to do for basing. I wanted to do snow like the rest of my army, but it doesn't make very much sense since they have kilts. Any ideas?

I personally think that a grassland with a few daisies or other field flowers would look nice.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the Gaunts Ghosts box that GW does includes Milo Brin, who is a piper.

Not worth the money, the Victoria miniatures site has bagpipes that look pretty good.

Woot! Black Watch! Fantastic choice sir! (Canada also has a Black Watch regiment)
I'm a big fan of plaid and sporrans.
Since you have a lot of red in the mini, green bases would really add some contrast. If you want to portray the highlands, a yellow grass would be fitting most of the year.

Thank you! I wasn't aware Canada also had a Black Watch regiment!
Yeah I agree. I was thinking doing the bases as mud with dead looking grass and bits of melting snow to tie it in with my Vostroyans.

Snow makes every bit of sense with kilts. Scotland is cold, and often under snow. Kilts are actually very warm pieces of clothing. I'm happy to wear mine in the snow. It actually makes it less restrictive to trudge through.
I've also worn mine in 40+ degrees c in Peru. That was not pleasant.
