Hi there,

I haven't had much of a chance (i.e. 'been too lazy') to do any modelling in ages, but finally got around to assembling and spraying my Dark Vengeance Tactical Squad and this is the first almost completed model from that. I've been following the official GW painting guide, except that in keeping with my first set of DAs, I kept the tactical squad markings white rather than red. Most importantly, this model is heavily highlighted and it didn't go as abysmally wrong as I anticipated. However, I still have a lot to learn and the lines are messy. I've attached a picture of the best model from my previous set of DAs to show comparison and (hopefully) improvement.

C&C please!

Looks fine to me, very neat (I'd never guess it was your first try) and very much like the GW style. Good stuff.

The highlighting looks really good. I think the white bits look a bit blobby though. For a good white you're best working uip with a thi layer of a light grey that covers well before doing a layer or two of thin white.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

@Paradigm Thank you very much, that's very kind of you!

@Flinty Thanks! Yeah, after paying so much attention to the highlighting I ought not to have been lazy with the white; can you recommend a good GW grey for that kind of thing?

I wish my first attemps at edge highlighting looked that good, nice work.

As for they grey Astronomical grey from the old range ( new name is Celestra grey I think) or just mix up some black and white on your palet going heavy on the white with just a smidge of black.
