This thing has been hanging around the house partly painted for about a year, so I decided to finish it off. I am aiming for a battered weathered look so I started by basecoating it in leadbelcher, then a heavy black wash followed by my top secret bare metal painting process( I polished it with abrasive compound). I then repeated the process with a sepia wash and drybrushed it lightly with leadbelcher. Once dry I painted the red onto the areas I wanted it on, before washing the whole vehicle with typhus corrosion. When the typhus corrosion was partly dry, I wiped most of it off with my hand, giving the effect in the photos below. I still need to paint some of the panels to represent recent repairs, and the detailing needs doing once I have removed the ork from the front turret.

Before I do that though I thought I would post some pics to see peoples opinions and see if any of the good dakkanoughts had any tips to improve it.

Maybe some daylight pics would help.

Cheers guys. Three days and not one reply. Lol. Although I suppose that answers my question.

I think you've done quite well with it. It really looks worn & weather beaten. I hate orks with a passion but the current trukk & wagon are pretty cool. Now if only gw would redo the buggy.

Looks great

Lol. Cheers guys. I was kinda saying that "tongue In cheek", although I was also starting to question my eyesight.

Seems done to me. Red paint? Check. Worn and rusty and chipped? Check. Clean paintjob with no spillovers? Check.

All you could do is add ork models for more effect, but thats modeling not painting suggestions lol

Yep. I was wondering why is was WIP. Looks pretty much done.

Unless you were thinking of some free hand or some contrasting colours to contrast? Like blue? Recently a friend commented on my painting as having too much red and suggested a colour wheel. So I'll be adding blue.

Yeah, I'll be adding some "newer" repair panels, and the rear roof and killkannon still need finishing.

Looks good, but I think it's a little dull for orks. They put glyphs on everything for orks to SEE them, so I'd paint the glyphs in a bright color to make them stand out (and perhaps add some painted ones, as well as riveted glyphs).

Plus, they usually make the grots paint the wagon, and grots can be exuberant and messy. You might add some checks, dags, racin' stripes, or other details.

Basically, I think it looks fine as is, but I think a little more painting could give it some more character.

I like it kinda drab tbh. It seems to me about right for what the feel of Gorkamorka should have been.

Some Orky tribal insignia would add detail and contrasting colours without going OTT.

This. It's not jumping out and screaming "Ork Battlewagon" yet.

Yeah. I'm toying with the idea of using some whfb shields as decoration. Kind of like a Viking longboat.

I think its starting to get there now. I've added a few glyphs, some mud splatter, and I have dirtied the wheels and tracks. If anyone can suggest more glyphs for the other side I'd be grateful.

Hit it with a wash or ink to make it look dingier. Also miss match some of the panels. Wheels and tracks need more detail.

Cheers dude, I agree about the tracks. At the momemt im building up layers of typhus corrosion to give them a muddy texture.
