People have spent more on less

I would imagine if they are doing a total rebuild that price includes new servers and such.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

From what I had heard GW is suppose to be revamping it so that it is just one site, so they have to combine all of the stores and different country sites into one. Quite an undertaking.

Thus eliminating the ability to comparison shop among different country's stores?

I don't know if this has been confirmed yet but the CAN $ for the Baneblade will be $95.00 CAN. The box will be 3 for the price of two so it will be $190 CAN.

Everything about apocolypse sounds super cool to me. It will be a really fun way to get away from the tourny style play and just have a laugh with your buddies playing a big game.

And vortex grenades are back! that is just plain cool.

I'll be your friend for a Baneblade.

Think it'll work on Nyarly and Abby?  Haha...

But what I meant was I'll go thirdsies with my friends so we all get a baneblade for cheaper.  I don't like my friends so much I'm just going to give them a Baneblade.

Some more stuff.

Smokedog:
Aparently superheavies can split there fire - but I think you just needed common sense to work that out...

Tau will be getting some stuf; the baracuda and a Greak Knarlock. They also get some formations, some we have heard about in other armies, but aparently they have one formation that allows you to enter play from any table edge... more on that if I get it.

Tyranids get the Heirphant and also a Trygon that leads another unit. They seems to be all about swarm formations, and there is one that allows dead tyranids to come back onto play as an "endless swarm".

Necrons get the Pylon. It also appears a nifty first turn deep strike ability... possibly using monoliths...

[...]

I only have a few things on orks...
The mekboy stompa is the super heavy with the most guns (wait n see...)
The Ork Kult of Speed can redeploy its entire force - like jetbikes - every turn!!
Orks use power fields on their titans.

thewizard99:
well they [Tau] are getting the updated Skyray rules, and hammerhead variants, along with the baracuda and the knarlock.

hellebore:
The only superheavy equivalents they [Tau again] have are the manta and the Scorpionfish (which FW haven't made yet). The tigershark is a flyer, and I wasn't talking about flyers (I believe the manta and the scorpionfish count as skimmers rather than flyers).

EDIT: No, the Manta still counts as a Flyer. The scorpionfish doesn't actually have a set of stats (except in EPIC) but it's description is that's it's so slow it can only skim across the battlefield. I put the Tigershark in the same boat as the Marauder, Phoenix, and ork bomba. It's a support bomber/specialist. The manta and orca are not proper aircraft.

As for points costs, those have apparently changed dramatically. Ergo, the Manta in Apocalypse could cost 4000 points now.

The reason I said it wouldn't be in there is because it's too frakking BIG!. It's 3 feet wide and 2 feet long. A warlord's ground covering is no where near that big.

Try moving around 5 kilos of 6 square feet of resin for fun. A titan would be much easier to move around.

Apart from anything else, the manta is so prohibitively expensive they wouldn't waste space on rules for it when they could put something cheaper and much more sellable in there.

The Warlord could actually be made in plastic, seeing as how a titan would use much less than a Manta ever would.

ChaosMaster:
Codex Apocalypse Demo Game
I had a chance to see the new Chaos Space Marine rules and the Codex Apocalypse rules being tested out in a 4,000 point game last Monday night (July 16) in the Glen Burnie GW Battle Bunker on a beautifully crafted crater filled 8'X8' table. It was a play test of a demonstration setup that is going to be at Chicago Games Day on July 28. It all looked like way too much fun, especially the new Apocalypse templates. The 10" round template looks even bigger than that when you see it, the 18" flamer template is about twice as wide at the "big" end as the normal flamer template and the special Apocalypse template that consists of 4 circles partially overlapping a central circle is postively enormous! The new plastic templates were bright transparent green. I also had a peek at a rough-print preliminary copy of the Chaos Marine Codex and I think in spite of all the changes it's going to be quite a bit of fun to use.

As for the outcome of the game, the Imperial Guard with their massive firepower comprising two Baneblades and numerous Leman Russ tanks outgunned the Chaos Marine army, which had a Titan that didn't seem to be earning its points and not nearly enough anti-tank weapons otherwise to deal with all the heavy armor on the Imperial Guard side of the table. The more I see of these two new releases the more anxious I am to get ahold of them!

[...]

By the way, the Brass Scorpion will be an allowable Apocalypse conversion currently most convenient to create from the existing Defiler model. Chaos players, myself included, should have loads of fun with this new conversion opportunity.

Noble:
About the vortex grenade template (if it hasn't been mentioned before), I believe that the pricing is due to some snazzy graphics on it (I think a redshirt told me), something about 3D/Holographic picture or something. I don't remember exactly what I was told, but I think it was something like that.

untimention:
I got the August WD yesterday and at the back it seems it wont be to long till we can pre-order some apocalypse in august... im not sure why models will be comming out in October i guess because its such a large scale game they need to give people time

- Ogryn bone'ead £10 this seems to be ltd addition altho not sure

- Space marines veterans MK II these have be posted all across warser £18

- Space Marine Masters of the Chapter - does anyone know about these ? £20

- New Necron Lord £8.00

- Ork Big Mek with Supershoota - £10

sanctusmortis:
Got talking with a very overexcited staffer at my FLGWS today:

*Marine Company crate £250. That's what he said. I don't think he was talking staff price, either. I was surprised he just up and said a price, to be honest.
*Banebalde £60. That's what stores are told anyhoo. They have no info on box content.
*Talk amongst the staff is of sightings of a mockup Reaver in 40K scale. [...] Before anyone asks, that's a Forgeworld mockup, not Citadel...
*He did say that the staff were "looking eagerly towards October", so that's just more on what we heard. He also mentioned the Spawn Tide, both as a rule and boxset, and some others we've heard of.

KUMA:
Played apocalypse today at the bunker in chicago...chaos and orcs (chaos titan) vs sisters, space marines, imperial guard (with baneblade) chaos orks owned both games. objective was to kill as many models as you could in 3 rounds, or first to kill the baneblade or titan.
I was more interested in the flying rules. pretty nifty...from what the guy with the book (district manager methinks) was saying, flyers have to move 36 inches minimum but CAN appear anywhere farther than 36 inches ( basically showing how fast flyers move). it got really interesting with transport flyers, they could load a crap ton of gear and move it anywhere on the board (PLOP).
Also very cool was that flyers could choose to leave the table for a round and reenter anywhere.

Deathjester:
The [space marine] Company Box comes with:

Chapter Master Box
Command Squad
3 x Combat Squad (to fill the Command squad & the 2 Devestator Squads)
5 x Tactical Squads
4 x Assault Squads
2 Devestator Squads
7 Rhinos
1 Razorback

There are transports for all the units except the assault squads.

The box my local store has recieved doesn't have the Land Raider, the Predator or the Dreadnaught in the box, however that's not to say that there isn't one.

Hagraz:
I thought it was

60 Marines
20 Assult Marines
20 Devestator Marines
1 Commander
1 Command Squad
and 10 rhinos with the option to make 1 a razorback

Mewy:
You are correct. The GW store I regular has finished making:
1 Commander
1 Command Squad (10 men with the commander)
6 x 10man Tactical
2 x 10man Devastator (1 anti-tank, 1 anti-infantry)
2 x 10man Assault Marines

But it's 8 Rhinos and 1 Command Rhino (we got to fiddle with razorback bits to make the Radar Dish, using a tank hatch and the TL Lascannons and some DA accessories)
