If GW simply tweak points of existing models which work well and work on improving the ones which arent looked at in the current book to the same usefulness I'll be happy. It's not the hordes of chaos from 6th when I started the chaos stuff after lamenting undead being split, but its better than things just being nerfed left, right and centre.
I'm hoping that the mark of tzeentch will continue to be useful as from the days of 3rd ed the magic god was always my first choice and I feel was more geared to spell casting characters only in 7th encouraging only characters to have the mark and no regiments in the army.
Looking forward to the new dragon ogre and large kit, wishlisting for plastic chaos trolls and ogres, even if it ends up being an upgrade sprue to generic troll and ogre plastics (hint hint GW).

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

While I don't feel much pity for TK players (because I think their book is sound), I do feel a bit bad for greenskin generals. With VC GeeDub has figured out how to make 8th edition armybooks, and I think the O&G unfortunately show how far they've come. So ... w00t for every army to come? Including WoC let's hope

I wish they would make a generic hero character used to the same end.

As with all releases, I'm hoping they do a decent job of external and internal balance. Mark of Nurgle is appalling (especially for the price) right now.

If the Vamp book is anything to go off of, there should be a decent selection of Chaos gifts and magic items. Honestly, its not like more than a handful of the current book's items ever see the table with any regularity.

And I'd really like to see an end of the boring "race to Stubborn & 4+ Ward" game with warshrines/chosen whatever.

I'm definitely happy to see book updates chugging along after that long break following the release of 8th.

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

This is exciting news. I personally play the throg+troll core units, witch my friends has dubed "The hoard of derp". I just hope this army will still be possible in a new book.

Some more rumours found on Warseer:
logan054 wrote:Next batches you greedy little sporks
1. Warriors price drop is a hit to initative.
2. Warriors have to buy chaos armor again. 2 ppm
3. 12 per base for warrior recosting.
4. Chaos lords only get 50pts of gifts but moree have been added for playtesting.
5. Additional gifts
Generic- extended ld range/ eternal hatred/ +d3 additional attacks at base str and init 1.
Nurgle- stream of corruption/ on a d6 of 6 recover a wound at start of turn.
Slaanesh - armor peircing/ every wound suffered +1 attack and init
Khorne - collar of khorne(same effect) / extra attacks based on turn number max 10.

Forsaken -points same skirmishers scouts d3+2 attacks. Base str 5 ld 5

Ogres still are butt and are nearly unchanged only price drop

Hellcannon - works like the ok cannon monster. Move or shoot. Beats with handlers rules. Stats on gw website incorrect. Fires small blast. Magical. Cheaper. Gets a 5++ ward. Misfire sucks even harder.

Shaggoth still sucks but heavy armor option. May upgrade to ranged lightning attack similar to kholek with 12 inch range str 4 d6+ hits magical.

Last minute add on.
Daemon princes have 4+ as 5+ ward base.
Think of the new gifts with 100 to spend.
Khorne DPs are hellishly powerful. Curb stomping VC lords without issue if kitted out right.
(...)
Wings +60pts. Yes really. But base is 220 soooo.

Flying nurgle prince to stick units seems potent.
Hitting a t6 stubborn dude on 5s or worse with a 3+/4++ will rock.

Considering July is slated for 6E 40K, I'm doubting WoC will come that early.

Not sure what I think of this, since I was about to convert 2 warshrines, and have already converted some dragon ogres and was planning to do more. But hopefully they'll make them more appropriately costed, if they're getting plastic, so that'd be welcome

Agree about upping Throgg's cost! But if he doesn't make trolls core anymore, I won't have a fantasy army.

I really hate/love the current trend in 8th.

It's like they're going in the opposite direction of 40k. Instead of making every new book way OTT and the best thing ever, they're steadily nerfing each book compared to it's last edition.

Of all the books to get updates, I have a feeling only Ogres and VC have actually gotten stronger. Of the remaining, I think Beastmen and Woodlelves will be stronger. I think everyone elses books are heading to nerf town in general.

And yes, that even includes TK's. I'll take my Invocations back any day thank you very much.

Forsaken sound interesting now, with the ability to appear behind enemy lines with minimum 3 attacks at S5. Chaff units of 5 could work depending on unit minimum.

Sorry I should have worded that better, my source thinks it is WoC witch, but it could be a female character for High/Dark/Wood Elves as well, not an Elf WoC witch. However he is fairly sure it is WoC, just not certain.

I would imagine the sorceror will form part of the releases for WoC later in the year.
I think current speculation has WoC in October

You sound...bitter? Let me taste your tears...mmm...they are sweet. In all reality, I feel for the Wood Elf and Bret players-I don't WANT my chaos book redone. I like my S5(10) Hellcannons and my favor/eye of the gods Chosen block. I'd like to keep them, thank you. The Hellcannons sound like they're going down in shooting strength, but are also going down in points and getting a ward save, but what I really hope stays is the mark system-I like my Tzeentch lord on disc, and I love my Tzeentch spells as they are. Gateway and "why are you hitting yourself" make me quite happy. I hope they don't disappear. I don't use too many magic items from the chaos book, save the favor, so losing items doesn't bother me so much.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Not sure why WOC wouldn't want their book redone.. Can only using marauders and chaos warriors really be that interesting? Most every other unit is garbage in 8th under normal rules

You forgot knights which still murder things they touch, then chariots which put out impact hits and have a small frontage for their damage output. Ofcourse theres chosen too which are usually used with a couple of warshrines, and hellcannons which over half the army lists will have at least one in.
Oh and marauder horsemen as light cav redirectors and warmachine hunters, and dogs for cheap chaff.

But you do have a solid point, out core troops are solid, theres no real reason to take anything else as they are so good as it stands.

A book redo would be nice to give daemon princes and chaos sorcerers and lords a bit of a shake up and make the other options slightly more useful, but imo a FAQ and errata could sort them fast, and allow for other more broken books (dark elves I'm looking at you) to be looked at as well as Brets and WE.

Judging from other army book changes, I find this unlikely.

Hellcannon would have to have a significant drop in shooting strength (S6) before getting a ward save and a points decrease.

Dark Elves still die to a stiff breeze. I'm not entirely certain why you think that WS5 S4 T4 I5 A2 troops with a 4+ AS (base) and the potential to get a 3++ Ward are not broken in comparison to anything DE can field, but... Honestly the Hellcannon statwise isn't my issue. My concern is actually the fact that it still (somehow) has the old Monster/Handlers rule, forcing you to randomize your hits amongst warmachine and crew. So yeah. Awesome. My 3 cannons hit the Hellcannon and did... nothing. Three useless crewmembers gone, still one left. It's immune to panic, so that's useless. It doesn't effect RoF or anything, and there it is, still firing away with no problems at all and the rest of his army is still barelling at my lines.

I'd still rather put up with WoC, Demons, and yes, even DE remaining at current power levels if it meant that WE and Brets got to the 8e standard.

Potential for one model in the army o have a 3 up ward save, and ofcourse the premium we pay for the chaos warrior stat line.
But everyone has that one army that they wince when they see it across the able from them, mine happens to be powerdice regenerating, hyrda spamming armies with lords which have a 2 up ward save...

One Lord, which you can avoid or simply focus on killing everyone in his unit instead. 2 Hydras to constitute the "spam" which can be slain by the Hellcannon or Lore of Fire, and PD regeneration on casters who are... what? Using Purple Sun to kill you? With... their... Initiative test or die spell? What's the Initiative on WoC again? Oh. Right. I'm not saying DE aren't weak, or that they can't beat WoC, I'm just saying that WoC is freakishly powerful and much more of a match for DE than you're giving it credit for.

Though I will agree with you, there's always that army that makes you hang your head when you see it.

For me it's usually the Savage Ork horde. :shiver:
