Their Facebook is saying June/July launch. So SW will be completely wrapped up which could hurt the GG effort. The smart product crossovers will help though I'm sure.

The G&G brushes has already been mostly fulfilled, so no issues on that side.

The benefit of having this sort of generic board is that you can use existing terrain with them without any issues. Take for example the current Dwarven Forge gear, all those corridors and walls etc. You could easily grab one of G&G's standard table sized boards in cobble or similar, and use it as a base for your gaming.

Say you already have some basic hills or trees, you can use them with the G&G's stuff.

On top of that, they will be producing their own parts eventually. Their first KS was really just for the boards and they said all along that it was to launch a complete line of product. They didn't want to over commit and make the project too huge by including all the various hills, half'n'half boards etc right at the start.

The idea was to invest into a system that would be expanded on over the coming year.

It didn't pan out first time around mostly because they had too confusing pledge structure, little to no stretch goal incentives etc. The product itself was great. I really think a second go with a better campaign could even capitalize on the Dwarven Forge success if they market it correctly.

The simpler textures to be usable with existing terrian is the reason I loved the games and gears boards so much the 1st time around, and would choose them over the secret weapon. Sept for something like a trench board or something.

28mm/10mm streets? How can you say that a 10mm street is useable for 28mm? The road may be wide enough to put a Predator on but the sidewalks and other details are going to look so out of scale.

I'm assuming that they are going in the other direction. A four lane 10-15mm road should be about right for a 28mm two lane road. A Predator should be taking up more than one civilian lane.
Curb height is fudgeable between those two scales.
Paving stone/sidewalk slab size would potentially be a weird one.

Regarding The city scape battle boards. 28mm terrain is not true scale and is a little skewed. For instance buildings for 28mm in the market if they where true scale would be massive. So terrain in the market from all suppliers is massively abstract.

City Scape is actually Purposely built for 28mm Sci- Fi Urban Gaming. It also gets away being fantastic for 10mm... like you can have 6 10mm tanks in a row and still some road space... you will not and cannot do that with 28mm based roads. So for 28mm game like infinity or 40k, it is like fighting in a city!!

"A four lane 10-15mm road should be about right for a 28mm two lane road" Correct!

We have played 40k and inifinity on it and it look super impressive, thanks to the industries non true scale abstract terrian in the current market.

yeah,
I was impressed by G&Gs attention to what the community was saying first time round and was disappointed that it didn't work out.
I'm definently onboard for round two.

G&G 2'x2' boards compatability with GW (and Secret Weapon) will make the new boards even better and not isolate them from customers that already have boards.

Panic...

I dropped my pledge to Secret Weapon to support this! I wish I did not have to wait for another Kickstarter.

Terrain bits to add to the board will be done by our partners and added to the optional loadout for you add to your battle boards. If we where to do them. There also some awesome terrain makers out their like Dwarven forge and a lot more. Our own terrain piece line will be with partners. In an attempt to minimize distraction from the current KS, join us on facebook to discuss and join our poll https://www.facebook.com/GamesNGears.

Where is the stuff going to be shipped from?

I was under the impression G&G were UK based, but I'm thrown by the dollar pricing for this one.

If it's coming from the UK I'm definitely in, but if it's coming from abroad then the customs hassle might make the kickstarting less worthwhile. But I can see everyone wanting it shipped from locally

Will the grid overlay still be a thing? I liked the idea alot my self. But i understand if you drop it in favor of other ideas like more raised detail.

Will be shipped from the UK. Possibility for the USA to have a hub by then for us to ship direct but not confirmed yet.

We will be doing engraved hex grids textured battle boards if we get to 600 "Hell Yes" (105 to go to get there!). For Pathfinder, D&D Battle Tech and other games.

And 4x4 board for $60? Hell yes.
At that kind of price it's a casual purchase, and not some massive investment.

I'm thinking on similar lines. That price and some of those textures would score them multiple purchases for me. Some nice stone-dungeon-tile would work wonders for Moria and Mordheim.

Without being a smartarse, I'd have thought that featureless desert and flat (especially green) grass are basically the least-likely to sell well. Simply because it's easy enough to get a table mat for those themes. I'm assuming that's why the SWM KS has the "scrapyard" theme to make what would otherwise be featureless desert a bit more interesting...

Sorry, we have been super busy here.

Some of us still play the Lustria Mordheim campaign in our offices :p. We have mentioned a jungle board with jungle texture. Of course the damned streets of mordhiem are represented well we think through our urban cobblestone battle board. Right now we are working with more partners to bring their worlds to life and as soon as we are allowed we will make mention of it on our Facebook page and news sites as well!

Also we do think there is a high demand for generic field battle boards. The trick for us is the make it dynamic enough with textures to appeal to the vast majority whilst maintaining that 'generic' feel. But we think we nailed this as we also have some great partners which add to the creative pool.

What about sci fi city board (proper sci fi not grimdark ruins)? yes, it will need some elevation, for pavements/ road, but almost nobody supplies that niche.

We would love to post pics ups. As soon as we are able to we will. However think for the purpose of examples only: Soda Pop, Cipher Studios, Ninja Division and Games & Gears. If you like the imagery from the games companies and their artwork. You are going to love these battle boards. We think it is an awesome combo.

As soon as we are able to we will post pictures.
