Looks interesting - as before!

What are the box set miniatures made out of again?

HIPs or PVC?

Thanks!

As for the plastic used, we will most likely go with hard plastic. Since plastic molds won't be made until the funds are cleared from Kickstarter we are not able to show you actual plastic miniatures just yet.

That solves everything! Hah!

Seriously, though. As Alpharius asked, HIPs or PVC?

And I'm glad to see the resin option for the miniatures. The Warlord and High Elder look great.

If they were expecting to collect $700,000 in pledges then I would agree that HIPS would be a good option, but as it stands, with 20+ different sculpts in the box, I would think that PVC is the only financially responsible way to go.

This campaign is doing well, but not that well. $65k right now.

Based on the wording of the RESIN HERO! pledge, I assume that the $10 needed to pledge for it are forfeit and do not count as credit toward the purchase of an Optional Reward?

Thoughts or clarification?

Yeah, pretty much!

I just wish that this industry would figure out a way to clearly state materials and not say 'plastic' as a catch-all!

I'm honestly not really interested in a new game, and I don't think I'm interested in plastic minis, but I might fancy a few of those in resin. I kind of like all of the Demigods, that orc chic with the bizarre bone-whip is pretty fun, and Wind and the High Elder are quite nice. Is there any chance of you putting up some kind of resin bundle deal pledge levels?

They have said they plan on offering resin mini bundles toward the end of the campaign, presumably because they'll have a better idea of how many minis that will be based on how many are unlocked and therefore have a better idea of the price point.

Alright, thanks! I have put a reminder on this campaign, I'll check back in before the end to see what's available.

I'd be more interested in a lot of these models in 'resin', but they are quite pricey and that will add up fast. Even in a 'bundle', I'd imagine.

I'm a lot less interested in this one in PVC though.

Neat.

So RESIN ARMY has 12 miniatures: 10 heroes and 2 demigods. And as I understand it, there are currently 19 heroes (at $15 each) and 4 demigods (at $20 each) available.

That's about $11.67 a model which isn't bad for a resin mini.

Going with the buy 4 get 1 free deal, if you purchase 8 resin heroes (and choose 2 resin demigods as the free options) it comes out to $120 at least -- still not sure if the $10 for pledging can act as credit -- for 10 models total, then you'd be paying $12 per miniature.

Not sure there're enough models I want, even in duplicate, to justify a RESIN ARMY pledge.

Edit: Whoops! Miscalculated average mini cost under the false assumption that RESIN ARMY was $100. In actuality, it's $140.

Agreed. Renders would help a lot, too, as most of the figures only have concept work to go by.

I like a lot of this stuff. I think some people are being a bit harsh.

Still undecided on this one.

Probably grabbing some resin figures. The pictures of Marrow Production's Journey models aren't bad, but I believe they're only to show what the material's capable of. Actual models are being made by Titan Forge, no?

Update #30: Demigods Rising Evolution

Dear backers,
Thank you for your patience regarding this update. There were a few challenges along the way and we are here to show you results from the past 2 months.

As you may or may not know, 14% of all resin miniatures that we ordered from Titan Forge to be delivered to our backers were either defected due to poor on spot quality control or were not delivered at all. This information was collected by us after we received a couple of complaints about miniatures. We figured that there are probably more backers who had problems only didn't contact us, so we sent mails and personal messages to all backers who ordered resin minis.

We asked you 3 simple questions:

1. Did you receive your minis?
2. Are you happy by the way they turned up?
3. What can we do to make your experiences better in future campaigns?

Answers to 3rd question were very valuable to us and those are the ones that showed us how to improve. To quote a few:

Barman: "I think for future runs, use a sturdier transport medium (e.g. Box) Instead of an envelope, that would have prevented a lot of the complaints."

CrazyBaldHead: “I hate to say it, but use a different caster for resins. I thought Titan Forge had a good reputation, but I hadn't received anything they made until these resin minis. Based on the quality of what I received, I probably won't buy anything else from them. I'm really glad I waited to see these before pledging on their latest Kickstarter, which I didn't do - thankfully."

Matthew: "More QC that each piece has all parts/correct parts. I also got two headsfor one guy. Maybe look at packaging and separate or more padding for bits with pieces that stick out that could break."

When Titan Forge sent samples to us, we always received boxed minis with proper quality control, it turned out that that wasn't the case when they sent minis to some of the backers. Quality control was not at the level we can accept, which caused the delivery of wrong parts (for example 2 right hands for Protector but no left hand in many cases).

With 14% unsatisfied resin backers we could not hope to make a name in board game industry, at least not a good name. That was a big problem for us and we gathered info and sent mails regularly to Titan Forge in order to mitigate the problems. Unfortunately, after a numerous consultations with them,we were unable to find a mutual agreeable solution.

The thing is, Titan Forge claimed that they sent replacements after every mail they received from us and that they resent packages that were returned to them. We asked for a proof of sending for each package, which they refused to give. Titan forge said that they sent the minis and that their job is finished by doing so.That closure was not acceptable at all to us, the guys you put your faith in, and we proceeded in finding a solution. About a month ago, Titan Forge was fired and we contacted a very professional guy from Prodos Games we met at the Essen 2014. Our goals were:

1. Increase quality control to the maximum so that there is no need for sending the 2nd parcel with replacement parts. Prodos showed us their process and assured us that their quality control will make all minis 99% solid. That 1% that arrive to backers in unacceptable form they will immediately send again.

2. Properly pack every parcel so that miniatures are always in best condition possible when they reach backers. They will pack minis in plastic blisters and then in cardboard box for maximum protection. Also tracking numbers will be send to each backer so you can track your order.

3. Reprint all models and increase the quality to the maximum in today’s miniature market. Also redesign models so they have alternative parts and fit them into 32mm scale so they can be used very easily in other games.

So we came to a solution in the form of Prodos Games. Jarek from Prodos Games is very helpful and we have meetings every single day with him to talk about progress and needed revisions to make our new miniatures exceptional. You can be the judge of that yourself. Check out new 32mm Demigods Rising Evolution resin miniatures with alternative parts.

Spoiler:

Notice: These are not 3D renders, these are new Demigods Rising Evolution miniatures.

We hired Prodos Games to redo all the miniatures and send them to the backers who are missing theirs.

The answer to all of you that sent us mails to claim new minis based on missing or defective parts: You will receive new miniatures with alternative parts so you can assemble them in the way you like the most. If there was a problem, for example, with missing head of a mini you will not get that missing part but whole new miniature. We scheduled 3D prints of minis based on your needs so that we can start sending replacement miniatures ASAP.

Miniatures had to go through an optimization process again for 3D printing since Titan Forge refused to send us masters - they claimed that masters of minis hold their secret technology! We used that need to initiate Demigods Rising Evolution. Instead of just reprinting all models we decided to redesign them and add alternative parts. Since each of our heroes had 4 skills in one of previous versions, we decided to bring that back, but in the form of alternative version for each hero and Demogod. Hero cards will now be two-sided, showing different versions of same hero.

Spoiler:

We plan to do 2nd Illustration of characters for back side of the cards to represent 2nd version properly

Spoiler:

3D print of Blacksmith

To complement Hero cards, each resin mini will now come supplied with alternative piece that can be used to alternate the skills a hero or a Demigod can use in battle. Let us give you some examples:

- You can now take Protector to battle as a dual shield wielder or you can equip him with shield and spear.

- Alchemist will have gyrocopter alternative form and wreak havoc from the sky to anyone that stand in his way.

- God of War will have 6 weapons and a huge shield so you can assemble him in many ways since he has 4 arms.

Not only that all minis will have alternative parts, but some of them will also have alternative models. Black wolf now has a wolf form with completely different skills and traits. Pretty neat right?

We waited with the news regarding resin miniatures and our new partners until we were sure that they can do the job. In an over a month's time, they managed to make new 3D models, make masters from them, make molds and cast a first batch. We are very satisfied that new miniatures look amazing! Are you?

To summarize:

- First of all, all backers will receive new two-sided cards in their games, both red and black edition backers.

- Second, backers who ordered resin miniatures and they came defected/incomplete or wasn't delivered at all, and if those backers responded to our mails or message, will receive new miniatures from Prodos Games.

Demigods Rising Evolution minis will be sent by the end of May, although many of them will be sent earlier, depending on what was in the order and regarding the order of production. You will receive tracking numbers for each parcel.

Since we now have a new range of miniatures and the gameplay is much more versatile with 2 versions of each mini we are going to run new kickstarter campaign in June 2015. that will be called Demigods Rising Evolution. New Kickstarter will bring SILVER and GOLD box that will have resin miniatures inside instead of plastic ones.

Also, it will enable backers of Red and Black editions to upgrade their games to GOLD box at heavily discounted prices. More about KS campaign will be available once we show you KS preview page. Small hint: God of War, as exclusive to KS, will get his God of War card and you can play with him! He will be made for beginner mode when you play with friends that are not so experienced and you give them God of War to give them some advantage at the start so that the game will be enjoyable for both you and them.

In the previous update we promised to show you a mass produced plastic miniature. We learned a lot about the process of production and we are happy to present to you our HIPS Tactician. Other HIPS molds are ordered and work on them is in progress. We will share progress for each mini as we get them.

We told you in the last update that delivery will be delayed, we just did not know for how long. Given the knowledge gained about time needed to optimize each 3D file for HIPS mold production, we have come up with new estimate for delivery of games with plastic miniatures. Estimated delivery is now December 2015. We realize that it is a lot of time for those who hoped to get their games during summer, but we put quality on first place and the time was the thing that had to be sacrificed.

We decided not to send personal messages to all bakers in order to distribute PnP. Instead, this update is for backers only, since we wanted you to be first to receive new PnP's.

Spoiler:

As requested, we are presenting you picture showing the process of development through 4 prototype versions of Demigods Rising. Enjoy!

Cheers!

Yeah I was going to post about this development.

I wasn't really surprised Demigods split ways with Titan Forge after the quality of the miniatures. And while Prodos is deep in the crap list for many people due to the AvP debacle, each of my Prodos mini's are spectacular and the only "problem" they had were the near tissue paper thin flash that came off with a finger nail.

I'm slightly annoyed that not all of my mini's were crap. Several of the newer versions look awesome and I would have gotten them over the ones I did get if they were the option during the pledge manager, and for the mini's I received that were for good quality, the new ones that were shown look better as well.

Migooo, they will be having a secondary KS, most likely to try and mitigate the Titan Forge debacle losses and to fund the newer designs. The second KS will also be to fund a resin version of the game instead of HIPS

I'm going to be sticking with my HIPS plastic version as I feel that HIPS tends to be better for board game usage, and unlike most of the games I back for mini's, this game I want for the actual game.

The Plantations

So Good/Ok news.

So for anyone semi following this, the resin minis from Titan Forge were for the most part a disaster, with probably about 25% of the minis sent out being crap. As stated above, Demigods cut ties with Titan Forge and are now working with Prodos to fix the resin version debacle.

Moving forward, the Demigod Devs plan to run a small KS campaign to help fund the redesigned resin line with Prodos and (probably) mitigate the Titan Forge up. The new KS will allow for either current pledgers to switch their game into an all resin version with the updated models, or for those of us who would prefer to have the board game in HIPS plastic (because board game - lots of people touching everything). I'm unsure if the new KS will allow new pledgers to choose the HIPS version of the game.

The secondary KS will also allow the range of minis to be produced in resin and sold as single minis for those who either want additional minis or who just want a small number of the models without the game. This is the big win, in my opinion, as it lets additional smaller sales for the game and lets those of use who want plastic for the game and resin for other tabletop aspects to be able to keep things separate.

So yeah it sucks that they are requesting more money, but it looks that had everything gone well with Titan Forge this wouldn't have happened. On top of that, some good is coming out of this as it's allowing for single mini's to be sold and it will allow people who prefer resin for their game to be able to get that.

Aside from that, the game's been delayed until December. Foreseen after the resin up, and the Devs are being pretty open about everything happening, so as of this moment it's not seeming as something to panic over.

So, I'm a bit surprised this has not been updated, but the new KS is up and running. I could have sworn the original version was 54mm scale, but these are listed at 35mm for the most part.

The printed resins look nice a crisp. There are surely some great models in there. (Most pics from their Facebook.)

No, the first iteration was 35mm. But the resins were fraught with issues, and Titanforge declined to assist in the remediation.

They were duly replaced with Prodos, and this Kickstarter is to raise funds for alternate adds to the original sculpts.

Hmmm a shame the individual models are 11$ + a piece. I wanted to pick up 3-5 of their sculpts, but not at 35-60$. That is getting into full retail range there, and a bit above a lust buy for me.
