/EDIT
I was lucky enough to be given a Gorka(or possibly Morka)naught for my birthday last week, on opening it it became clear that there are some challenges to magnetising it so after an evening or two playing around with some bitz here's what I've got so far.
Having decided you build a new gun body the perfect component was an old Black and Decker multi tool motor that I've had kicking around for ages.
I've been sharing details over the last few days on my blog with some more WIP shots.

I've also got a project log with my orks on showing off army so far and the beginnings of my BFG fleet

Over the weekend I added some more detail to the Gun as well as some more assembly of the main model.
The gun mount got a tidy up and shoulder details while the Gun had some rivets added and I started to insert cables so I can have a good bundle for the power line into the models body.
I still need to make a few improvements around the magnet mounting point and the shoulder so it won't slip around and will be able to support any position I place the gun in.
I also took the opportunity to get some photos for a review of the kit on my blog

So I've had a tidy up of the wires and finished the gun. While the rest of the model is a pile of bitz at least I can always knock up a chassis for using it as a mek gun.
So what do people think?

Thanks for the comments. It's not the lightest gun but with the size of the Morkanaut I don't see it being an issue otherwise I can always put a couple of rocks on the base to increase stability. The magnet I've used on the mount is a nice chunky 10*4mm disk magnet, the motors internal magnets helps strengthen the bond as well.

So I finished the main gun and have now just about finished the arm and power cable (just need to magnetise the shoulder to prevent the arm falling off.)
After seeing Clang's scratch built Mek Guns
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/603786.page
I had to have a go myself.
So here's the chassi and Gun.
Just needs the magnetised gun mount and detailing with cables, more rivets and a control panel.
What do you think?

So the chassis for the gun is now finished and playing with Plastic Instant Mold really alowed me to have fun with the details. It's also given me lots of ideas for the naut and how to fix many of the issues I have with the model in my review of the kit ( http://paintstationforge.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/gorkanautmorkanaut-review-and-progress.html).
Anyway on with the pics
