Finally got up the courage to put some paint to models after 2 years and 3 armies. Comments and critiques appreciated.

Note: these aren't based yet because I haven't decided on a theme for it yet.

Apologies for the picture quality.

For your first miniatures, these are very very good!

Extremely serviceable for a tabletop army, good choice of colors too may I say. Khaki and blue work very well together.

Good clean lines on the different sections (No paint from one section on an adjacent section that's a different color).

An army painted to this standard would be a joy to play against.

Slightly related, what kind of IG force are you going with? Infantry centric/footslogger type? Armored? A blend of the two?

My reason for asking is, the Platoon Command Squad is a great place to get some solid offensive firepower in the form of concentrated special weapons such as melta, or plasma. I've run a quartet of sniper rifles in the past with the Platoon Command Squad leader (Jr. Officer/Lieutenant) kept pretty bare bones as yours is. It was pretty effective, but granted that was in 6th where sniper rifles had the pinning rule.

Another fun way I've run them was Platoon Commander, three plasma guns, and a medic. Helps try and keep the plasma gunners alive if they overheat with the feel no pain roll.

If you're going for super cheap squad with minimal upgrades to get *as many* bodies on the field as possible, then I totally understand sticking with a PCS with just lasguns, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to throw the suggestion for arming the PCS out there for discussion's sake.

Keep up the great work and please post up more of your work. I wish my first minis looked half as good as yours do!

Take it easy.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

When I first started collecting IG/AM... screw it I like calling them Guard lol... it was to compliment my Space Wolves Army I had built up. I have several special weapons guys that i have painted yet and need to get some more together.

I plan on playing abit both as far as tank and blobs go, I only listed this as a platoon command squad but its 5 models and thats one of the rolls these guys can play, a few of this guys are really old models that I had to rehab into shape, clean up re-glue etc, so majority of the infantry I have is all lasguns.

That being said I had this fun idea of making 50 man blobs with a Priest giving 6 plasma guns per 51man unit and making it fearless then using the PCC/CCC to issues orders behind the 3 fearless blobs I would be using. Litterally MASS bodies across the table... I call it Cadian Tide.

Also thank you for the kind words.

Wow, they look really nice.

Love the light blue and sandy yellow combo. Are they just blue and sepia washes over a white base-coat?

No, the model I had already primed black

The khaki was done using Zandri Dust as base color, then washing with Agrax Earthshade, retouched with Zandri Dust then dry brushed with Ushtabi Bone.

The Blue was Russ Grey base, washed with with Drakenhof Nightshade, retouched with Russ and the edge highlighted with Fenrisian Grey.

Really good tabletop quality. Especially for someone who painted for the first time. You're off to a good start, seems like you nailed the basics well.

looking good bud, you should definitely add some metal style looks to the base!
