Hi

I'm a beginner. So I started first with basing my converted Chaos Space Marines. I added large rocks to the base and many of them extend beyond the actual base. My question: Is this allowed? I would like my army to be field ready and participate in a tournament , yet maintain the awesome look of this type of base. The pictures show what I mean. I have other bases (not pictured) where the rocks extend from both sides even more so.

Since I made like 11 of these bases already and I started painting them , I would rather not have to remove the rocks and start over. But I'd like to be fully legit so that I won't run into problems later. For example, I read here that some guy didn't drill his bolters and in a tournament he was denied because his soldiers can't fire bullets from a blocked weapon.

From my understanding it should be ok as long as you measure from the actual base and not the rocks.

Thanks, that really makes my day. I was looking at many of the galleries, it seems lots exceed the limit.

As long as you're doing it for aesthetic reasons, rather than trying to gain an advantage it will be fine. Most people that do elaborate basing have something hanging over the edge, espe iallh on 25mm bases where there isn't much space to begin with.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

you could say they were glock blocked.

I agree though, I decided I'll keep them. Glad I did, when I put the figures on the bases they look awesome. I'll share when I added some more detail.

If your rocks stick out quite a bit, you might have problems when you go base-to-base contact. It's no big deal to just turn the model to face another direction but asethetically, it may not look nice to you to have your warlord facing his back to the opponent.

Large rocks like that looks a bit odd when it's everyone in the army; I'd recommend scaling back a bit on the rock. Also, are you planning to re-position some of their legs to make them properly standing on the rocks?

I noticed that the plastic glue label recommends wearing something akin to a hazmat suit when handling the glue. I have been using it for years and never used gloves or anything nor do I know anyone who does. ShouldI be worried for my health?

Well, there's a slight risk of gluing something together with it. Only slight, mind.
