Subject: Space Wolves coming up :new pics UPDATED 8/6 TONS of New Codex pics and translations added to OP!
As the post count indicates, I'm new to rumormongering, as is my source. Releasing things a bit at a time was what they wanted. Since everybody is hungry for details and 'credibility' though, I pressed them to give me everything they've got. Here it is:
Stormwolf - Fast Attack - Points = Land Raider minus 35
BS4 - F12 S12 R12 HP3 - Vehicle (Flyer, Hover, Transport)
Wargear:
Twin-linked helfrost cannon
Twin-linked lascannon
Two twin-linked heavy bolters - May be replaced with a Skyhammer launcher for free, or two twin-linked multi-meltas for 20pts
Ceramite Plating
Special Rules:
Assault Vehicle
Power of the Machine Spirit
Transport:
Transport Capacity - sixteen models
Fire Points - none
Access Points - One ramp at the front of the hull
Stormfang Gunship - Heavy Support - Points = Land Raider minus 30
BS4 - F12 S12 R12 HP3 - Vehicle (Flyer, Hover Transport)
Wargear:
Helfrost destructor
Two twin-linked heavy bolters - May be replaced with a Skyhammer launcher for free, or two twin-linked multi-meltas for 20 pts
Two Stormstrike missiles - May be replaced with a twin-linked lascannon for 15 pts
Ceramite Plating
Special Rules:
Power of the Machine Spirit
Transport:
Transport Capacity - six models
Fire Points - none
Access Points - One at rear of the hull
Helfrost cannon
dispersed - R24" S6 AP3 Heavy 1, Helfrost, Blast

focussed - R24" S8 AP1 Heavy 1, Helfrost, Lance
Helfrost - If a model suffers one or more unsaved wounds from this weapon, it must pass a separate Strength test for each wound suffered or be removed from play
We have some information regarding upcoming Space Wolf releases, which includes quite a bit of plastic. Space Wolves would be a fun release, if only we could get there a little faster. (its too hot outside to have patience today).
Please remember that these are rumors.

Your information on space wolves main units is a bit off.
Grey Hunters are not cheaper, they are still 15/model.
They come with Bolter, Bolt Pistol, grenades, ATSKNF, Counter Attack and Acute Senses.
They can have one model upgraded to a Wolf Guard, for +10 points, who gets +1Ld/attack and access to wargear. (Same as veteran sergeants, except that if not taken, there isn't a "character" in the unit the way normal sergeants are).
They can take 1 special weapon, or 2 at 10 man. They are limited only to special weapons and not heavy as per normal. They pay the same points as space marines now, not a discount and not a free one at 10.
They can also take plasma pistols at 1 per 5 in addition to special weapons.
They can swap their bolter for a chainsword at no cost, on a model-by-model basis, and it specifies that it must also be represented on the model.
Wolf banners are still in, but aren't as good and cost 15 points not 10.
Bloodclaws are 13 points per model, minimum 5 up to 20. Similar as above for upgrades. Unlike what's in stormclaw, if you upgrade a Bloodclaw to a Wolf Guard he gets +1 WS and BS (to take him to 4/4). They have rage now instead of their former +d3 attacks on the charge.
Wolf Guard terminators are now an entry, as are Wolf Guard non terminators, so no mixing and matching. No more pack leader separating of Wolf Guard to join other squads. Just upgrades in unit.
While I'm sure that a lot of people will be flipping over the loss of certain iconic character elements for space wolves, the new stuff in the book isn't just "Wolf This" "Wolf That" and they still remain sufficiently divergent from normal marines, with points costs that are now in line with them. Though I won't deny that they definitely were toned down in a lot of ways (that they weren't really overpowered in by any real means) they have been compensated for by gaining access to things like space marine AA tanks, a new flyer and some really nifty formations.
I took some time staring at the unboxing video, here are my findings on the new SW.
So there is a video of some unboxing of stormclaw [1] . In the video, the guy flips through the pages a bit, this shows us the points, upgrades and special rules on the units.
Here is what I gathered from it all.
It seems that SW now have standard Sgt upgrades. I am assuming this is 10pt, like other space marine chapters. Even wolf guard seem to have this, though the Sgt upgrade has nothing aside from (character) different from normal WG.
* Grey hunters seem to remain at the same point cost. They have the same special rules. Their wargear however I cannot really tell. It seems like they still have the same loadout. All come with CC wep and BP, one also has a bolt gun, so they may all have the bolter and just replaced it with special equipment. Seems like they dont have the CSM style "1pt bolter", as the unit is not a strange number and only 1 shows to have a bolter.
* Blood claws again, basing info on the 10pt sgt upgrade, blood claws are now 3pt cheaper. Lost the crazy leadership test or no shooting and gained RAGE!!!
* Wolf Guard with the loadout used in the scenario are 15pt less than wolf guard used in the current box. Combine that with the Sgt upgrade and we are looking at 5pt less per model, most likely taken out of the TDA cost. Seems to put us on par with SMTDA for cost.
* Wolf Lords Dramatic cost decrease, it is hard to compare to SM dudes as orbital bombardment and all, plus wargear differences. I can say that a Wolf lord with frost axe and belt of russ is currently 20pt more than this dude. This guy has furious charge and a bonus weapon skill to top him off. This also does not include the saga, as they have drastically changed it seems.
* All units in the box have ATSKNF, Counter attack and Acute senses (really on acute senses? Maybe we get some more outflank possibilities..)
* Frost axes and swords remain unchanged in profile.
* TDA for SW can now deepstrike, as the wargear section states so.
That is all I could gather, it might all be right, it could all be a horrible ruse from GW. Either or, I like the way it is heading. Blood claws might become usable! Considering that 15 of them is possibly only 180pt and will put out 60 attacks, that ins't all too shabby. Especially if you can prescience them! I wonder if the jump/bike variants will be more than 3pt off.
We have already seen a lot now of the new flyers for Space Wolves, the Stormwolf and Storm Fang. For the most part it is getting great reviews among the community for its rules, and for its model. So what is coming next week? Lets take a look at what we know.
It shows us that we are going to be getting releases like this.
2 weeks of releases without a codex, but with rules in the White Dwarf
1 codex release
possibly a release afterwards.
There is a leaked image from this weekend's White Dwarf that shows us what to expect next week.
It simply says,
Issue 27 on Sale: Saturday 2 August
Ancient Warriors of Fenris
Parade Ground
More Rules, More Painting Guides
I also had this in my inbox earlier, but have been waiting for another response.
via an anonymous source that gave us the early flyer information
Next week after the flyer there will be another Space Wolves release. But no codex yet. It looks as GW will make a habbit of 3-4weeks long release, just like with Orks.
Next week it looks like we are going to be seeing a new Venerable Dreadnought box set release for Space Wolves. A box set to make Bjorn the Fell-Handed would be a good release set next week. This rumor makes a lot of sense based on the "Ancient Warriors of Fenris" hint from White Dwarf.
Please remember that this is a rumor. Here is the image of the Blood of Asaheim he is talking about.
via an anonymous source on the cover of the Space Wolf codex and next week's releases.
It' looks like the Blood of Asaheim Novel cover, but different.
I heared next week GW will bring an Bjorn/Venerable SW Dreadnought Box.
It sounds like the Space Wolves are going to have a similar release to the Orks. Here is what's doing the rounds:

August 9th: Dreadnought/Bjorn Combo-kit (includes new "freeze/cold" cannon and DCCW weapons)

This evening I received a confirmation of next week's releases from a separate source. This always helps to hear this from multiple sources. Next week is looking to be a Venerable/Dreadnaught with the option to build Bjorn the Fell Handed.
Please remember that these are still rumors.
via Voice of the Chaos Gods

New Logan Grimnar doesn't seem likely- he's fairly new. Ragnar Blackmane and Ulrik however, are screaming for new models. A plastic Wolf Lord in TDA would be cool.

Um, what? Logan's model is over 20 years old. If I remember right he and Dante are the oldest character models GW still uses.

Wrong- Ragnar Blackmane is over 20yrs old. Logan Grimnar only came out in 5th.
New characters would be awesome to see, even better if they are dual kits with options.
A squad of 'Rune Warriors' that either boost the power of or otherwise buff a Priest would be pretty cool, even better if they can split off like Wolf Guard to add psychic potential to squads.
4 plastic characters but only one new unit box sounds unlikely, though.

Nope. The logan model is from 3rd. Ulrik, Ragnar and PA Njal are 20 years old though.

This is my thought on the rumored list as well. Not enough new shiny 5 man boxed set/Big Kit.

Then why am I seeing a picture of Logan's model in the Space wolves 3rd edition codex?
Edit: thanks petre

That's when he came out. 3rd edition space wolves came out in 2000.

Not a fan of a psychic boosting unit for SW.
It won't be a psychic boosting unit... It will be a boosting the "drawing on the powers of Fenris" unit And I also don't like the sounds of it (Though we have absurdly little to go on at this time)

You would be wrong. I'm looking at the 3E SW codex right now and he's in it.

Not sure about when he was release but he was definitely out before 5th.

I agree. Really nice model. Was he the first TDA to be released with a 40mm base?

That has never been a reliable metric for new releases. He is still available in the US.

Logan is also on a 40mm base, first used in 3rd edition.

Aside from it being Ragnar, as noted - Are they still using Jes Goodwin's 2nd-ed Mephiston and Azrael? What about whatsisname? - The Sanguinary Priest.
Just go back to 2nd ed / Rogue Trader and see what Space Wolves had then.
They will get a flier, they will get something to use during the psychic phase, and they will get an upgrade unit.
Whatever sucks in their codex now will be the new shiny in the new dex.
I'd say bring back their ability to field the Tank named after their Primarch.

Decided to make my first post on Dakka to support this.
Played 40K during 3rd edition (only), and just getting back in with 7th.
I had the Logan Grimnar model (same as current) and he is in the 3rd edition codex.
But I was really upset to see the Russ Exterminators gone when I picked up the 5th ed codex (mainly for the fluff).
I want them back.
Also getting our own dreadnought again would be nice...

Yep, Logan was one of the later 3rd edition SW minis, IIRC. Definitely remember playing against him, and almost exclusively played 3rd.
