A unit of psychers (a-la warlocks) really makes zero sense fluff-wise for wolves. That list seems VERY thrown together with "uh well it seems to make the most sense for this so sure, why don't I just say its a rumor"

while we're calling guesses rumors: I'm guessing there will be a Wolf flyer, Updated Ragnar, (which will be the only character because of Krom being in the campaign set) and a repackage of the "Wolf Pack" in 5 at $30 like Dire Avengers. Maybe an Ax-wielding variant on the Centurion? Unsure. But I think the odds of those are the same if not better than the odd of that guy's list being accurate. Most updates havent had more than 2 characters, and like I said, Krom already was used for the pack.

You would be wrong. I'm looking at the 3E SW codex right now and he's in it.

Yeah, I bet you my metal Logan that you're wrong and Ferrum and I are right.

He came out in 1999/2000 because I was in high school when the first space wolf plastic sprue was for sale. He was released fairly early on in 3rd edition. There are other models older than Logan.

Chaos have Abbadon, Kharn, Ahriman, Fabius
Eldar have Eldrad, avatar, all of the Phoenix lords
Blood Angels have Tycho, Dante, Corbulo, and Mephiston
Space Marines have PA Calgar
Dark Angels have azrael, Ezekiel, and brother bethor (standard bearer). Azrael and Ezekiel have been re-released with different banner poles though. Not sure if that counts.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

I've acquired the current Logan model four times in the last 15 years; 3x metal, 1x Finecast. Because that's how old he is.

Metal Logan is awesome, one of my favourite models. Always gets the job done too (in his last game he killed a Bloodthirster in assault and then pimp slapped a Daemon Prince and a squad of Bloodletters for kicks).

Rune Warriors... yeah, they sound like either a brotherhood of psykers unit, or perhaps a major psychic defense unit. Not all that sensible really, but oh well... that just means I won't have to buy any new models.

There is a million percent chance that Logan came out in 2000. The SW codex was released in the spring, a month after the long awaited new plastic Land Raider kit. Logan was released a few weeks after the Codex. I'll bet a bazillion dollars on it. I remember how great he looked, and how excited I was to get him. There was nothing in 4th for the Wolves. The 5th edition release in 2009 had Lukas and Njal in TDA for characters. Arjac and the direct only standard bearer came out with the second wave (TWC, Fenrisian Wolves, cyber wolf finecast).

A Wolf Guard PA 5 man kit is my dream, but I don't expect it. If I ran GW, I'd dual kit that with Long Fangs. But I expect they'll get the flyer, maybe some Centurions with CCW and assault cannons, and if were lucky, a plastic Ven Dread with Bjorn options.

I'd rather have the rumored list, but so it goes.

Hope I'm wrong and that list is dead on.

Be careful what you wish for. Given that the current 10-man Wolf box makes Grey Hunters, Blood Claws and Wolf Guard I think it's a pretty safe bet that they'll get Dire Avenger'd and end up as a 5-man box for the same price as the current 10-man one.

I fully expect this as well. The sprues are cut perfectly for it too. It's why I just grabbed 60 of them.

If it is all new sculpts and bits a la the Sternguard kit, with bearded heads and runed up armor with wolf pelts (vice capes), I would not complain. I care about new (high quality) parts of my SW infantry. If they want to charge a Sternguard price for that kit, fine by me. If they just want to repack the WP kit as a more expensive 5 man, I won't buy a single box. I doubt any vets would, so I hope they get a lot of new SW fans with Stormclaw who need PA kits.

Anyways, for a bunch of PA troops that are similar to Krom, I'll plop down some coin.

And I know the pack kit can make WG. The Tac kit can make Sternguard and the Death Company. But those kits bring some really nice bits. And again...I'd love some fully bearded heads and more wolf pelts for my Wolves.

I get what you want, and it sounds like a good idea, but my point stands: Be careful what you wish for. GW will find a way to give you want you want with their right hand whilst taking something away with the left. They always do.

Wow.. half of this thread is just different people confirming Logan Grimnar was released a long time ago as a model. Okay we get it, no need for everyone to mention it lol.

SW are in the same boat as BA as far as models.. the only stuff that is missing are redone characters.

Just to put a nail in the Logan debate, I have in front of me the 1999, 2000, and 2001 catalogs. He is not in the '99, but is in the other two.

And for being that old, he has aged well. Nostalgia only goes so far for some of the guys in these old catalogs...

Besides the really old characters, are there any kits that really need updating? I thought they had most of their units updated with the last codex.

Bjorn. He is a major character with his own rules, and an ancient (large) Finecast kit. While BA seem to be all about the numbers of Dreadnoughts, Space Wolves hae a lot of fluff about having a lot of ancient ones, so a Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought kit with parts for Bjorn would seem like a logical kit to come out. Wolves are also lacking a flier and/or anti-air (though they may get say the Storm Raven and Hunter/Stalker imported in)

Besides that, all the Wolf infantry units can be rather well represented with the Wolf Pack box and Wolf Guard terminators. GW could always decide to sell a Long Fangs box, with say the HW sprue from the devastator kit and a 5 man wolf pack sprue, but that would not be a new kit in any way, more like a bundle.

We don't know. We know he wasn't in the 1999 catalogue, but was in the 2000. All that proves really is that he wasn't in the 1999 catelogue, not that he was released between those books.

I'd hold off for a little bit. Just give it a few months - borrow someone else's in the meantime - and just wait. Last thing you want is to buy a Codex a month or two before the new one comes out.

I think it would make sense as a Shaman's Bodyguard sort of thing. They could come with Runic Armour (2+ and a 5+ against Psychic) and some kind of latent psychic defence buff, allowing the Rune Priest to focus on offensive and buffing powers rather than defending (fluff-wise at least).

A plastic Bjorn kit would be cool as a new option, far more palatable than a giant monster or mech.

Well that Logan trivia session was fantastic.

I find it odd that they'd have an Iron Priest and Thrall kit rather than a Tech Marine and Servitor kit that would work for all flavours of Space Marines.

Rune Priest and Rune Warriors... I wonder if they'll be elites? Depending on their rules it might work for a Pre-Heresy Thousand Son army, ha!

Indeed!

I agree on the metal Bjorn. It's one of my oldest painted minis (meaning one that hasn't been repainted since I first painted it). That sucker is heavy. Also, I loved the speculation that Bjorn would become a LoW. Give him a little boost and I could completely dig it.

Come on, we're going to get a flying kraken with a blood claw, named Hrojta, riding it. It will be epic! The kind of story that only happens once and will be told for centuries to come.
