So a little back info for this guy... My ten year old little brother has decided that he is interested in 40K, and as such, I have offered to buy him models from time to time, with the stipulation that he takes his time with them.

Until now, he has only dealt with the little gribblies, but we ran across this carnifex for a pretty reasonable deal and I picked it up for him. First larger model that he has worked on. He built and painted the whole thing (with a little help from me from time to time). He has decided to call him complete, and I'm pretty proud of his results. In fact, I've decided to pick him up a Trygon now and see what he can do with it.

Anyway, thought I'd share his Carnifex here.

Don't say your ten year old brother paints like that. I'm 23 and the best I can manage is a handprint turkey... Gonna give me a friggin complex.

In other words, it's very impressive, regardless the age of the painter. I'm not a big fan of the purple deadly bits and might have gone with a more bleached bone look to them but that is personal preference of keeping the weapons matching the chitin. Other than that, it looks very natural and Nid-like.

@Sharkoutofwata - I agree, I would have personally preferred a somewhat more natural color on the claws and such, but he was dead set on having a "bright" color on the model. Being as it was his, I didn't want to suggest to hard and make it something other than what he wanted.

Thanks for the comments guys. He's got some serious natural skill that I'm trying help him focus, but at this rate he's going to be beyond my ability to help before long hah hah.

Ten years old and painting like that? Cripes, you've got a cropper there, then. Really like the Carnifex, seen some of my friend's nid's and they don't look anything near as good as that. This is my friend that reckons he's one of the best painters in the world, mind, the one that isn't good.
