So i have been messing with my new airbrush and decided to add some stripes to my Lynx.

Was generally quite happy with how it turned out until i took the masking tape (first time trying this!) and noticed that the paint had bled through on one side! Sad, sad times!

Anyone able to give any advice on how i can tidy this up without a full repaint?

If you have a steady hand you can fix it up with a hair brush. Or just tape off the good bit and shoot the other color through the airbrush to fix it.

Get some better masking tape on the stripes and re-spray.

I don't think it is the masking tape as much my poor applying of it in all honesty!

Learning curves and all that.

Thanks for the suggestions, will give it try tonight and see if i can salvage it, just worried as i have got a nice blend of blue going on at least for my skill level.

You just can't see it in the photo due to poor lighting and rubbish camera phone lol.

Masking tape needs to be rubbed down pretty well along the edges to prevent this kind of bleeding.

You acan also spray a light coat of the base colour beforebefore spraying the stripe... This will help seal the edges under the tape.

Do this ^

I think trying to brush over it will make it worse before it makes it better. Spray covers better and faster than brushing. Just mask off the orange and fix it.

EDIT: Or go with it, and turn the bleeding edge into a flaming edge

Another option is to seal the base color with a couple thin coats of matte varnish before adding the stripe color so you can use alcohol to clean any bleed-through.

Not the best way to go about it, but it works.

Press the tape down better (maybe use a better quality tape?) and don't oversaturate the paint. Use thin layers of paint and it will help keep this from running. It also helps reduce wicking and if the tape is good and pressed down well you wont have this issue. Did you just use masking tape or did you use a painters tape?

This. Use Tamiya tape. Accept no substitute.

+1 for Tamiya tape. Stay as far away from Testors Masking tape as possible. That stuff is utterly useless....
