Greetings all!

Welcome to the journey, a journey of getting back into the swing of things! I recently decided to get back into painting, after about a 15 year gap. Mostly as something to do when I'm not at work that doesn't require me to stare at a screen, but also the fond memories for my childhood band of Space Marines.

So I bought some paints, a tactical squad and a venerable dreadnought (always wanted a dead' when I was a kid, but couldn't afford one!) and thought I'd set about it... Damn things have changed since I was a kid! (Or maybe they haven't, there was no internet back then for me to see other people's amazing stuff!). Plus to make things difficult for myself, as I like to do, I didn't want to use one of the canon chapters, I wanted my own colourscheme and my own chapter!

So at the moment I'm calling them 'Angels Repentant,' a successor chapter of the Dark Angels (because I really like the look of the Deathwing Knights and some of their other models), but one that originally distanced themselves from the others, seeing themselves as pure and untainted by those who turned traitor on Caliban, they left, painting their armour white to show that purity. I'll post the full story that I've been working on later, but essentially a bunch of them then fell to chaos. Seeing the error they had made, they painted half their armour black as a mark of shame and changed their name to Angels Repentant... It's largely a homage to my childhood ones, who were half black, half silver, but I rejigged things a bit to make it more interesting.

Below is the first guy, then some others that are still work in progress. Technique wise these ones were all undercoated white, then washed with a mix of fenrisian grey / lahmian medium, then the black and blue bits, then a light black wash over the top, which makes them look a tad dirty, which I quite like. But very much still experimenting!

Dreadnought work in progress... Needs some more white layers and some more noticeable highlights on the black I think.

Looking good. The color scheme looks great too by the way.

Thank you!

Happier with the Dread and some marines I started today, their white had a grey base coat, which is making things look nicer. The first guys felt a little too bright...

5 sets of legs and torsos done. Starting to get the hang of washes, layering and highlights I think
