I keep seeing older stuff here on dakka and it finally got the better of me.

Tyranids were the first army i ever had back when i was about 9 or 10 (older brother got me started on it)
Granted, it was never a full army or even close.

However, being much older and having more money, i decided it was time to revive this old army and get it ready for a few games atleast.
Its not a competitive list, but its fun and its around the models i want in the army.

This however has resulted in tons of stripping and pinning, 2 things i dislike alot. (no finecast though!)

The entire army is full metal with the exception of the custom resin bases.

So, time to get started on things.
More will turn up in the post as i go, depending on how kind ebay is feeling that day.

So, pics.

Menial stripping, as always:

A few shots to show what has arrived and been assembled thus far:

Mr Fex (1/4)

And a random warrior i wanted to tinker with:

So, thats it so far as an opening post.
Ill try to keep this up to date as much as i can, but im a rather slow painter, so i will try.
I want everything done in time for christmas!

Also, pics are a bit weird at the moment as this new camera is pretty annoying to use (not mine)
So i may learn to take better pics and ill get a light box set up soon aswell.

So, lets see if i can finish this in time.

Retro-stuff is always a lot of fun. Can't wait to see where this goes.

Thanks all

I will more than likely keep expanding this until around 3k points or so.

I have been looking at the old armorcast stuff too.
However, i have been looking at pics and scribbling some ideas for building a dominatrix at some point.

However, that can wait as it will be rather time consuming to say the least!

Ok, so a few more bits and pieces have come through the post now (should be another 10 or so items if i ever stop ordering)

But painting has pushed on! (for once)

Only small, but a zoanthrope and biovore with mines thus far.

Soon i want to get into a production line style of painting everything at once if i can.

So yea, for once i am getting there!
I want to start knocking them out a brood at a time to speed things up though.

Plans for future:

1: Convert an old one eye model.
I need some claws from the epic bio-titans though for him, which are proving hard to find!

2: The tyrant needs alot of attention.
I may paint him slower so i can add as much as possible to him.

3: Armorcast!
I couldnt resist and i found an exocrine from armorcast for a reasonable price (£55 with shipping and import) and the only issue is a damaged nose spike, which will take all of 10 mins to repair.

So thus far my "1,500" point army is moving closer to 2,000.
Also looking at a way to make FW models with a retro theme to them.

As always, C&C welcome.

Decided that i needed to speed my painting up alot more as i have been a bit slow, so i opted for a factory style conveyor belt of going through everything one colour at a time.
Highly monotonous, but keeps an even result and gets me moving quicker.

So, everything now primed (minus the rippers as my spray is low) and the 2 remaining thropes have a splash of red to start with.
I have 3 more warriors turning up and another carnifex, bringing me to 10/4 of each.

So i have enough spray for those when they get here to join the que.

So, one assembled, primed and based army:

And painted stuff so far: (with a few little critters in the corner)

So for now thats it.
My new goal is getting the main army painted by the end of next month (for me this is somewhat quick)

Also, Armorcast Exocrine on the way since i found a cheap one on ebay due to a bit of damage (few broken spines etc)
So i can get him repaired and painted aswell.

Enjoy.

Youre going to stick with the red theme overall?

Yea, while the red scheme was mainly used on the fex and warriors, i decided to keep it slightly uniformed.

So i will keep the red running as a theme and maybe the pink heads on the large critters so they stand out alot more.

Also, final 3 warriors and carnifex have arrived!
So thats the full 1,500 point part of the army now.

These are currently being stripped so i will get an update on here once i have more progress.

Well, i did it again -_-

Me being me and impulse buying, i saw these ending on ebay:

I couldnt pass them up and ended up with them for £8.75 (Result!)

So it looks like my army is growing a bit quicker than expected, and faster than i cant paint.
I have done a bit more painting though so i will get that updated soon aswell

I always have had a soft spot for the old models

While slow, painting is going ahead:

10 stripped hormagaunts, these were a royal pain in the arse to put onto resin bases and balance!
4 hours to do 10 of them and i have 7 more yet to do.

Oh, and on impulse, i purchased one of these.
His bottom horn was missing and the gun was snapped off, but 2 hours work and it was good as new (only paid £25 too!)
And now painting has begun!

So, progress is being made for once and im starting to pick up a bit of speed too, so its getting promising now
