Hi everyone I have decided to share my progress on my first time painting. I'm building an Ork army slowly but surely. I have decided to get these boyz done before I move on to different models. Here's what I got so far. They're pretty rough and random but I don't think its that bad since they're orks and i am ready to play but I won't play unpainted ones. the arms are magnetized so i can field shootas or choppas depending on how I feel that day so there is going to be gaps. I'd like yall's ideas and comments. Thanks for looking.

EDIT: just noticed they all need touching up in places. the camera is not my friend.

Looking good. One thing I'd suggest is using some washes on the models, specifically on the skin.

Thanks for the advice. I tried a wash on one but didn't like it so I'm going to try a different shade.

It all about experimenting early on, but I am firmly with Ustrello that a wash can really lift your painting from a nice neat job to a fantastic one. They can take a bit of experience to get right, but well worth it.

For the army I am currently doing (Orks) I apply a base coat, then a wash and I carefully paint the base color back on if its a standard boy.

For more important models I will apply a highlight or two as well.

Keep up the good work though, looking forward to more progress.

I'll try it out thanks. I need to look into it more to see how to do it better. I'm hoping starting this thread will push me to paint better and more often.

I have definitely found a P&M thread is a great motivator and also a great way to learn. Just keep asking questions or checking out other threads and you will learn a lot very quickly.
