The other, larger sites seem unaffected.

I saw something about this earlier (which is weird cos I never even knew about the "recasting" thing until today lol) but I think they actually just moved to a different website or something. If I can find the link where I read it, I'll post it... think it was even on dakka somewhere?

Not sure how many people actually used the chinese recast thing, as import fees in the UK can be a bit of a ... pain. Especially as royal mail charges the VAT, and then adds their own extortionate fee on top of that for no reason.

I know quite a few people who've used recasters. Some because they don't have the money to afford FW but enough to get recasts, and some who just feel FW is too overpriced. Some of the recasters also have consistantly better casts than FW, too. No bent barrels, gaps, etc.

Confirmed elsewhere; just a move and name change. I've never ordered from them but it sounded odd that China would be afraid of GW when they thumb their noses at Hollywood all the time.

I'm always happy when recasters get shut down, but it's just going to be a couple weeks before the same people start a new site with a slightly different name selling other forged GW goods.

I wonder if it is GW's new CEO at work. These sites have been around for a long time, after all.

Though I doubt even the most zealous GW leadership will be able to shut down any recasting search results on the "main ebay-china kinda site", given how the site itself doesnt sell it but lists an ever elusive list of sellers and thus probably cant be prosecuted.

It's easy to boss over legal western retailers like waylandgames or american retailers and impose sanctions on them like not being able to sell outside europe etc., but china is a different beast.

What evidence is there that this has anything to do with GW?

Still I guess if enough of the product sold was illegitimate then someone with enough motivation might have been able to make a case to close them down rather than pursue individual sellers.

Did GW have anything to do with Yoymart here? They sold all sorts of stuff, only a fraction of which was Games Workshop stuff.

Exactly, they just resell things from sellers on Chinese language markets like TaoBao.

CoolCastorNot and LowPriceWarhammer were shut down after requests from GW to their webhosting services. Both have since moved to new sites.

Alibaba is HUGE, and like someone else mentioned, could buy GW if GW proved irksome to them. Earlier this year Alibaba started being traded on the US stock market I believe.

Never shopped at Yoymart, but it was amusing that they had Google ad space that showed up on DakkaDakka.

I doubt it. Shutting down recasters doesn't require any change of policy from GW, and they've shut down other recasters in the past (at least temporarily until they moved to new websites). I think it's more likely that this is just the result of the legal department's ongoing work against recasters finally getting some success, and the timing is purely a coincidence.

No big deal, still plenty of re casters with GW and FW still available on AliEx. Miranda Irene was also shut down, for about 2 hours lol. The same with CCON/TBK. It's like playing whack a mole, they will just pop up somewhere else. If Hollywood and the music industry, multi BILLION dollar industries, can't shut down piracy from China, what hope does GW have? The biggest problem for GW is that re casters often sell models of BETTER quality than forge world, which is supposedly their "premium" product line, at 30-50% of the price. I want a new archmagos for an ad mech army. I can pay over $100 from forge world for a model that has bent/broken pieces or $23-30 from re casters for a model with equal level of detail, less warpage and less mold lines. Hmm, what should I do?

Apparently, even Aliex and Miranda Irene don't see enough profit in selling Dark Eldar. Sigh. Always getting hosed.

I'd be very surprised if this was because of GW. Yoymart operated off a similar system to Aliexpress, they were just a storefront for a range of vendors, many of which sold stuff other than GW recasts.
