Background:
So I was looking at the flamers in the wraith lord kit and thinking they looked a bit like the barrels on a Striking Scorpion helmet and wouldn't it be an awesome conversion to do a Striking Scorpion Wraith Lord.

Well it turns out that I am not the first to think of this, or even the fifty-first!, the best example on Google I could find was:

(mine won't as awesome as this obviously)

Question
I think my conversion skills are very up for the task of the pipes and various armour conversions but I am looking for advice on building the sword. My initial thought was 3 pieces of plasticard to make the sides and back of the blade and then making an imprint mould of something tooth shaped (maybe a wood saw blade or Tyranid models teeth?) in greenstuff but I think that could end up looking a bit rubbish. I also thought about making the teeth blades out of plasticard but am slightly worried about getting an even shape blades the whole length of it. Any suggestions on how to scratch build (or bits if any kit has a massive chainsword!) would be great.

Ah yes, aspect wraithlords. I've been wanting to have a crack at them since I saw this one on /tg/ some time back.

As to your sword problem, you have 3 options I can think of.
1. Look around at 3rd party bits manufactures and see if any make a Wraithlord scale chain sabre.
2. Make your own.
3. Convert it.

I can bet that #1 is a bust though. There is no 3rd party places I know of that do anything close.

Either #2 and #3 could be easier depending on what your modelling skills are like. Making it yourself Should be easy enough. Just buy some plasticard (0.5mm would be your go-to size I think) and cut out the shape of your sword. Converting it could be just as easy though. The wraith sword in the Wraithlord kit could be easily converted into a chain sabre. Just get a sharp scalpel and cut a toothy pattern into the blade. Of course that's putting it in the crudest terms possible. Either way would take some work and careful hand.

But good luck any how. I'll be interested to see what you come up with.

Initial work so far... not really happy with the sword blade, I think I will try another one. What I really need is a pair of those saw toothed scissors. I have gone with a more 'predator' style for the pipes, I dont like them just dangling out the top of the helmet on the regular models.

The wraithlord is looking good so far. I like the mantiblasters.

What size thickness plasticard are you using for the chain sabre?

Thanks,

The sides of the blade are about 1mm and the blade is about 0.1mm. This is my new version of the sword, I measured out the lengths of the blade teeth so they are more even but still some towards the end don't quite stick out as far. Hopefully once it is painted you won't be able to tell.

Yeah, looking good. What do you have planned for the other arm?

Have gone for a closed fist. I wanted to have this guy be a bit less elegant than your average eldar. I like his pose, like he is kicking down a door and waving his chainsaw around quite recklessly.

Have done the base coat a dark green with blue in recesses because the rest of my army is blue/black with red feature spots so don't want him to look completely out of place.

Just my two cents but the sword looks more imperial in design rather than Eldary. Could use more curves or taper it a bit. I'd use the regular Striking Scorpions blades as a starting point.

Maybe use the big Khorne thingy's axe as a base?

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Paint job is progressing nicely. The model is quite dark so might go back and do some more edge highlighting. The rest of the army is mostly dark blues/black so don't want a bright green model in the middle of the army!

Thanks for the suggestion of a Lord of Skulls weapon but really don't feel like buying a £100 model just for the axe
