So recently I just found out through the miracles of the internet that my favourite hero Gil-Galad can take an armoured horse ?

However I'm not sure which rulebook this has been taken from, so does anyone who has a superior knowledge of the books and rules could conform this and from which book it was sourced ?

Thanks for your help

Hmm, I'm not seeing it in the current Free People's book, and off the top of my head it wasn't in the Big Blue Book. Legions of Middle Earth, perhaps? Or the older Elf sourcebook can't recall the name)?

Ah it could have been Legions of Middle Earth though I'm not sure. I am assuming the Free People's book is the most recent book than the LoME ?

Yeah, TFP is the current one (ie. includes Warbands, all profiles ect). I imagine many people would happily play Legions lists, though.

Ah ok if the rule has been outdated then that's ok still may knock up a conversion sometime though, would look pretty awesome to say the least !

Would you have a link for this Errata ? Just so I have proof

Mighty shame that I'm gonna have to knock up a conversion and get him on the field and deal out plenty of death Mwahahaha

Ah, here we go:

Should be fun to convert, and something of a monster on the tabletop.

Well I think he will go quite nicely with my Last alliance and accompany Elendil on his horse for a rather devastating charge !

I would love a mounted Gil-Galad, he's awesome on foot so i dread to think the damage he could do. Just checked, the original rules for an armoured horse were in the Legions book, and not in the Big Blue one. Funny i never noticed this before, could have had some fun... Imaging gilly + Glorfindel supported by Rivendell knights. That would be fun!

Lethal is the only word I can use to describe Gil-Galad on horseback.

I just ordered Elladan as the base for my conversion and then the foot version will make a nice high elf captain I'll post pictures when he arrives and a few wip's when i make a start.

Cool, i didn't think of converting one of the twins. They have such nice sculpts i'm sure they'll look good. Looking forward to see this progress!

So I have started my conversion !

Here is my original Gil-Galad model

So here is the conversion as it stands at the moment

I've widened his cloak, removed his sword and drilled a hole ready for his spear and added chain mail to his legs.
I'll be changing his lower arms to the banded armour and adding similar armour to the horse and adding his spear too !

Hope you like.

Really liking this model so far! That blue shield on the foot version is REALLY nicely painted (as is the rest of the model to be honest!). I also actually like that you gave him a helmet, it brings to mind the 'helmet-less Space Marines' conversation... I think it looks ace here though and really makes it your own!

The pose is perfect and the flowing robes really add to that dynamism, can't wait to see it finished now!

Thanks guys ! Well you will be happy to know he is done !

I'm pretty happy with how he has turned out, just a little trimming here and there and he will be ready for paint.
I think he's going to be quite the figure once painted, based, and running around on the battlefield running amok

Hope you like !

Lovely job Wolf. I also like your foot Gil-galad much more than the stock model.

So just to revive the thread a little ,I had my first game with mounted Gil-Galad one Sunday (after my long break of playing games). Holy moly is this guy worth the points, he slaughtered gandalf the white, at least 10 dwarves almost killed a cave troll, took out Elrond and one of the twins as well as a healthy amount of high elves...

Just quickly we were playing a 4 player free for all hence the mix of everything. So I was thoroughly impressed with how well he performed.

Glad to hear he did well (although I'd have put money on the fact that taking one of the killiest characters and sticking him on a horse would yield results! )

Did you ever post painted pics of him anywhere?

Hm do you know what I don't think I did, I shall get some taken and post them up for you i'll put him next to my foot version

I love the freehand work you did on Gil's cloak! I painted mine in a sort of "royal purple" to differentiate him from all the other high elves, but I like your idea even better.

(grumble-grumble, as if I don't have enought LOTR miniatures still to paint, now I'm considering repainting one I already finished years ago)
