Subject: Smoke Effect using Clump Foliage and Epoxy Resin?

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of adding some dust effects to really play off the huge jetpack on my Y'Vahra battlesuit. The idea is to show the dust getting blown back by the jets and billowing up behind the model. To do this, I'm planning on using the standard technique for making smoke effects with clump foliage (i.e. glue foliage to wire), but am also considering dipping the whole thing in two-part EasyCast resin in order to make them more durable. Is this necessary? Also, has anyone used EasyCast resin for anything like this before, or should I just stick with white glue? Thanks!

I used this method ofr my Vendetta base and I foiund that white glue didn't really cut it. I ended up using UHU tube glue stuff. The stuff thats kind of between super glue and white glue.
Once the glue dries and you've sprayed and painted over the foliage its pretty robust. If you're expecting serious handling then maybe a coat of varnish or something to harden the surface but I think resin is a bit hardcore

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Well, I'd like the dust to drift off behind the base, so I'm thinking it might get bumped quite a bit. Still, you think the owl glue will be sufficient? Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, for the UHU: did you just paint it on, or mix it with water first?

This is what I ended up doing. They're magnetized to allow for removal during play.

The effect looks good but could use a bit of black to be smokey here and there. I'm more curious about why you felt the need to nail everything to the ceiling. Are you actually a vampire?
