I airbrushed this minis and upon close inspection you can see grains in the paint. Like fine sand. I don't think my paint is pure drying, the finish seems smooth except where those tiny grains are.

Can anyone she'd some light on what is going on here?

Did you prime by hand, airbrush, or rattle can? Because it sounds more like a primer problem.

You might have had the airbrush too far from the surface of the model.

You can get a grainy surface with an airbrush this way, as the paint particles will dry before they hit the surface.
