We can only tell you if this is the right forum if you tell us what you want to know about the Avatar with spear/sword.

If it's a question on...
-Whether the spear has different rules then the sword that you wish to know so that you can buy the model according to your preference, then maybe 40k General or 40k Tactics would be a better forum.
-The there is any difference in the lore then 40k Background is the forum you need.
-If you're asking from a modelling point of view then you are certainly in the right forum.

modelling and aesthitics wise

Modelling wise I can't help you. Never assembled one. Although considering the spear itself comes in 3 parts I think that could potentially pose a problem when it comes to alignment. But again, not sure. Maybe they all have male and female parts to help with that.
Not sure how heavy it is either. You might find you need to so heavy pinning just to keep it together.

Aesthetics wise, I'm a fan of both. Both are an improvement over the GW avatar. Although personally I think the spear avatar edges out slightly over the sword avatar. It's just cooler looking.

Im fond of the spear. Much better aesthetically and thematically IMO.


However, it may be more difficult to store and prone to breakage. So, aesthetic or functionality?

Aesthetic, I will probably carry it by hand
