Hi all,

I was planning on starting a Harlequin army when the new models/'dex were released, but I was very kindly given a sizeable collection of old metal models by a friend... There are approximately 1.5 of the old RTB06 box sets which will make a good foundation for the basic infantry units... I thought that an OOP army might interest some people on Dakka, so I decided to try and document my progress in a blog of sorts (if this does pique your interest let me know!)...

I've gone for the Masque of the Dreaming Shadow paint scheme that doesn't involve a diamond pattern as that's beyond my abilities!

Anyway, here are the inaugural pics... C&C always welcome...

All the models as I got them -

The first 3 I decided to have a go at -

And work in progress -

I've redone the neuro-disruptor thingy since this was taken - will post a new pic shortly...

Nice work so far, I like the old model sculpts and should still hold up well. Timeless models.

So I have made some progress (not much it has to be said, but it's well known by those who know me that I am a painter of tectonic speed)...

Anyway, I've redone the neuro-thingy of Harlequin #1 -

Painted it white, follwed by blue glaze and gloss varnish...

A 'quin #2 is almost finished too -

And #3 is heading the right way too - basing required, and some final highlights (notably his big, bouffant barnet...) -

Nice! I love those old models. One of my first conversions was of an old Harley. Still have him in my display case after selling off the others.

I love those old Harlequins, but I hated painting checks and stripes. Your quartered paint scheme looks just as good, if not better. I look forward to seeing more as you finish them.

Now showing various models from the previously adandoned projects!

Painting total as of 3429/2024: 56 plus a Deva King statue
Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

Fantastic stuff - the army will look amazing all together. Enemies will be overwhelmed by a wave of colours.

Add me to the old Harlequin sculpt lovers list as well (although the new sculpts are great as well)

These are shaping up nicely.

Subbed!

Nice work on these. As much as I really like the new sculpts, I do love (many of) the old-school models!

So the first 3 are finally finished and based....

And the next 3 progress - here they are in various stages of painting. Not sure if it's the fact they less detailed the current plastics, ,but they seem to take a shorter amount of time to finish...

It appears I have been somewhat lax in updating this blog (can I be guilty of raising my own thread from the dead?)... Anyway, I have a few more finished of the old metals, but have also painted new plastic additions (characters & vehicles). I thought I'd add them to this thread rather than starting a new one, so at the risk of breaching any trades descriptions, here's my finished minis since the last update... Let me know what you think...

Troops 1st -

And the Solitaire -

The 1st of 3 Starweavers -

Voidweaver -

And a Skyweaver (only another 3 to finish!) -

And a group shot of the army so far to finish...

Cool looking stuff! Amazing vehicles. I like your paintscheme it is very cirque du scary, evil clown-esque.

I just scored a whole load more of the old harliquins at a jumble sale. Might possibly paint them... who knows.

The old metal Harlies really tug at my heart strings. I still have my original set. You don't need more, do you?

To be honest I'm not sure I need more (I've still got 14 left to paint!)... But then there's always the need vs greed argument!
