Hi. I am working on my Imperial Guard Armoured Company from IA 1 2nd Ed for the July Throne of Skulls event. I have 10 Russ bodies so far.

As you can tell, I like the Russ chassis very much and would love to continue with the theme and try and convert a Russ (or 2..) into a Super Heavy, maybe a Macharius of any type... I have found this image in my search online and cant find out where it has come from, or if it is even on sale. Does anyone recognise it? And can maybe point me in the right direction...?

If I were to lengthen the russ, add that conversion to the back and widen the turret (to be able to accommodate a plasma blastgun of sorts) then I think I would have a working Leman Russ pattern Macharius

Managed to make this using some spare bits. Looks quite good and i reckon it would work as am omega pattern blast gun.

My plan would be to build a double width russ turret for it and putting it onto a converted russ to use as macharius omega

Have recently bought myself a Stormblade. So I thought I would post a picture of the Blast Gun against my Omega Pattern for my WIP converted Macharius

I used Russ pieces to build my first Land Raider when the RT kit was out of production. I traced the side panels on plastic card and nust extended the straight lines with a ruler. It also looks better if you double the track width
Also, I used the plasma cannon from a FW dread arm for my plasma Russ. The dread inferno cannon on an old metal predator turret makes a very cool hellhound too.

Thanks for the thoughts. Made a start on the hull today, only had the tracks to make one half at the moment but I reckon it looks ok

Little update, as I am getting on with the body of the tank. Have cobbled together the widened turret and vanquisher variant of the Macharius

More progress made. Here is my work so far, I have ran out of tracks with the double up, but more are coming. The sand bags are a running theme on all my tanks so far. Sponsons next....

I like that a lot. When I built my raider using the Russ parts I just traced the track sides on plastic card and extended the lines in pencil, but the result was really featureless. That's perfect how you've combined side panels, it's kinda hard to even see what you did

If you get desperate for treads maybe taking them from the bottom to finish the tops would work.

Thanks everyone for your support. Tracks arrived this morning and the tank is mow complete. Also got around to the sponsons and started painting

It looks good! Kind of reminds me of the US M6 prototype or Nazi German Maus in shape.
