Far Away

Hey guys,
This is my first miniature I painted since a loong time. I am an awful painter, but somehow modelling and painting always gave me more fun than playing. I'd rather have my minis look good than win a game. After spending a lot of hours into mixing colors and so on I finally choosed a cholor scheme I like for my Tau army, but my horrible painting skills butcher every miniature I put my brushes on. I see a lot of great painters here, could you please point out what mistakes I do and what should I change? The base is untouched, the legs not finished. I didn't highlight the battle damage yet. I am looking for brutal, honest comments! Don't need to wrap up words in a kind way, no hard feelings here - I want to get better!

Your painting looks perfectly fine, but the colour scheme is, IMHO, a bit dull. I would add something brighter in some places, maybe on the helmet or shoulder pad or on every second section of the leg armour. A much brighter blue would work, or white, orange...

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

The painting is just fine. Once based it will look better as a whole.

You say that I am crazy. I say that you are right!

Looks great! I think the blue on the background makes it look a bit dull since it creates a lack in contrast, but I can imagine a bunch of these guys looking great on the board. I think some line highlighting would really bring this guy together.

On photoshop or similar, try colouring the tau symbol orange with the little dot as white. I think it would really make it pop!

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
