On Two Wheels

I was fortunate enough to pick up some HH era marines. I initially painted them up as Minotaurs, but I've recently purchased some Firedrakes off the site and decided to commit to my Salamanders. I already have a 40k army. So here is my first Salamander painted over my bronze Minotaurs. Critique welcome.

Great job on the repaint, I can't see the freehand on the shoulderpad fully but it's looking nice!

Some tips that might give you a wee bit of an easier time with this project:

  • Try stripping the bronze versions first so you can make sure you aren't losing any of the mini's lovely details by painting over em!

All you need are some very cheap products and to let the figs soak overnight in it, and theres a great guide written by a Dakkite here:

  • I'd also say watering down your paints a wee bit will help as you repaint them. The Green looks a wee bit thick though the rest looks lovely and smooth, so thinning it just a little will give you an even nicer finish

  • Throw a nice green shade on top!

Gw has some amazing shades available, but their green has an element of black to it so is fantastic for enriching an underlaying green coat while making the recesses really shaded. It looks like your recesses do have some shading, but a thick layer of this shade followed by a highlight would really make them look great
