Hi Folks

Not sure if this is the right place to put it but I'm planning on building an epic display board and army for Armies on Parade. It's going to be an Ork Speed Freek army I've been considering for years. Basically I wondered if anyone was interested in a progress diary and where I need to be putting it.

Let me know your thoughts anyway.

Update time.

The Grots are all assembled ready for basing now. I've got a mixture of grots, gobbos, snotlings and gnoblars for this unit both metal and plastic. I love grots so hopefully will be adding a lot more to the army later on.
My warboss Lug da loud is coming along nicely with his new bionic arm almost finished. I made the base for something else ages ago but thought i'd re use it and tart it up a bit.
The big boy is da Deff Weel. I originally made it for my nurgle army but gave up on that a while ago. Who best to make use of such a weird contraption than the orks. It will be orkified up to the max and will basically be a Stompa.

So there we go a little bit of a start for you.

Well It would appear I'm working on the same day as Armies on Parade which slightly mucks things up. Oh well I'm going to carry on regardless just cos it's a fun project and I want to start playing with my orks. More pics coming soon as I've just got some more spray to start undercoating things.

Thanks guys. The overall aim is to be a speed freaks army using a combo of stuff from the speed freaks list and the normal ork codex. So everything will have custom built trukks etc.

As for the Deff Weel That's going to have a rocket platform straddling the back with grot rockets. a platform on either side for orks to stand on and gatler and kannon on either side of the hull. Still trying to figure out the close combat weapons though.

Only a little update tonight. Have under coated the grotz ready for paint and been fathoming out colours.
The bases are my standard Heavy drybrush with british uniform (graveyard earth) followed by peat ink. Another quick drybrush with the basecoat again then another of Buff (bleached bone ).
Not 100% sure how I'm going with the skin tone yet other than green. I want to keep it old school with gobbo green if I can but will have to work it out properly.

Had a play around with some colours last night and think I've got my skin tone down. The grot below needs some highlights (and the rest of him painting obviously) but I'm quite happy with it. He was base coated Vallejo olive grey then washed with Vallejo smoke. Once dried it was Vallejo German field grey then highlighted with a 50/50 vallejo field grey and Goblin green then a final pure goblin green highlight on top. I'm thinking maybe some green ink in places and maybe a bit more highlight. Let me know what you think guys.

I've been away for a few days folks so not managed to get any work on da Orks done. Hoping to get back on it tonight and tomorrow though. Bring on da noise!!

Really struggling with time lately but have started putting one of the trucks back together. Needs loads more orkiness adding and the paint job rehashing but getting there. This is yet another of those many half done things i seem to have floating around lol.

Well I've struggled a bit over the last few months organising time and the like. Now Christmas and all that jazz is over with and with a potential new career on the horizon I have been thinking hard about all the millions of unfinished models I have floating around. The long and short of it is the Orks are getting done and the rest of the models are getting mothballed. I'm determined to make an awesome looking army (even if it doesn't play very well)
So bring on da WAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH.

I can't believe I haven't stumbled across your P&M blog before, man! It's awesome!

I really like the skintones you got down on that first grot. He looks suitably weedy and goblin-y, which is what I usually aim for with my grot paintjobs.

It sucks you're working when it's Armies on Parade day. That would've been some awesome motivation to get your army done. Do you have any reliable mates who you'd trust to enter it for you?

Finally, some of your conversions are really cool (that Deff Wheel is riiiiiidiculous, in a very good, Orky way). I hope you've not taken on so much work that you're at risk of burnout. I'm constantly flirting with that particular danger with my own Ork horde. Try and tackle each unit one at a time and don't start another until the one you're working on is completely finished.

Thanks for all your comments that's exactly what I was aiming for with the grots so glad it came across.

I've always had troubles getting things done for taking on too much so I'm going to be a lot more disciplined this year and try and get them all ready for this years armies on parade.

As for the Deff Wheel that things going to get a whole lot more ridiculous yet lol and then there's all the other plans :-)

Been rifling through the bits box and found a few more bits to adapt Warboss Lug da loud. I'm going to build in some kind of vox box somewhere in there to make him extra loud.

Update time folks.

Ive been busy working on detailing the bionics of Lug the Warboss this morning. He's not far off ready for some paint now. Oh and the head is one of the cybork ones from the Nobz sprue. Not adding it ti l afterwards.

No pictures tonight I'm afraid. I've been a lazy ass and not taken photos of anything but will get some done as soon as I get back to the workbench.

Colour me interested. love the look of that Warboss.

I like how this is turning out so far, looks like a cool theme. I really like the conversion work done on the Warboss, the dread power fist works really well.

spending a bit more time working on da army so thought I'd give you some pics.

I've been working on the Warboss' base with mushrooms etc. Still need to work on it as not too sure about the leaves yet. Setting to on the ancient Skorcha, can't wait to get this guy finished. And finally have started making a gun shield for the looted wagon.

I've been really busy with work and blah blah blah but have been doing a bit of work on the mek and skorcha today. Aiming to get these dudes finished before I start anything else which is really tough cos da boys are calling to me lol. Hopefully loads more time over the next few days.

A little update for you today folks.

Not got as much as I would have liked done but have made some good progress on the old skorcha and my Big Mek is almost done now except his shokk attack gun. Oh and I've decided to call my big mek 'Grubnut' with his grot assistant 'Gubbinz'

Oh I almost forgot. I've been laying around with some bits I had lying around and have created the attached monster. Now obviously it's only a very rough chassis so far but I was thinking of making it a mad max style buggy. The problem is it's about the right size for a truck, which I think is a bit big for a buggy. However the HUGE jet engine kinda scuppers the plans for a truck as there is nowhere for the boys. Basically I need some ideas and or help folks.
What do you all reckon it should be?????

If it is trukk scale you will have to make it a trukk inan AoP sense.

Putting running boards down either side for the boys to cling onto would work.
