I like the Centurions. Hopefully the Devastator versions look good as well.

Those centurion models are the worst marines I've ever seen. They make captain cortez look statuesque. They make dreadknights look sensible. Ill proportioned, a mess of detail, poor armor, just all around some of the worst GW models that exist imo.

The assault launcher on the chest, the melta gun on the arm. I freaking love these models a little bit more everytime I see them.

Of course, like every other thing I buy, I'm going to hate myself painting them.

Meh unimpressed. I was going to start a Black Templars army... I think my money will be better spent on my Chaos Marines.

The tank looks interesting. I don’t mind that it is a Rhino base. The Rhino is the Jack of all trades, workhorse of the empire after all. Why build a new chassis? Just look at all the Landrover variants the real military use. I’m interested to see what those parts on the sides are. Are they stabilisers or what?

The Centurions are amazing. People that complain about the proportions do realise the marines arms don’t actually go inside the rigs arms right? Also. For the people complaining about the heads. Do you find yourself complaining about the sergeant on the front of the tactical marines box? Seriously, just swap it out!
I wonder what their points cost is going to be. I recon they will be tougher and stronger than a terminator with the same save but maybe a better inv. Will it be approaching 150 points for a squad of 3? Your thoughts.

Cheers Vim

The more I look at the Centurions, the more I think they're going to be easy to fix-- just remove the giant dumb shoulder pads, throw on a helmet, and perhaps move the chest weapons to the shoulder position. Then give them guns instead of the drills, and we're good to go.

If GW saw fit to include backpack ammo feeds for the guns, I think we're headed for some pretty sweet Matrix mech conversions. That being said, the fact that the conversation is centered around "fixing" what could have been an iconic new part of the range is worrisome.

I often think GW's marketing tactics hurt them in this respect-- many models are panned by the community in their first appearance thanks largely to bad-quality preview shots, but even when the real pictures come out and look substantially better, the damage is done. First impressions count, and if GW did more management of this with actual high-quality previews instead of the bootleg shots we normally see, people might think more highly of their releases.

The centurion armour looks like it would be ok with a helmet added on, and I think the devastator version should look pretty cool. I really don't get the siege drills, though. The way they are mounted, they don't look particularly useful as an actual siege drill... And they look dreadfully impractical as a close combat weapon. I mean, I know this is 40k and all, but these just don't work for me.

Tank looks reasonable. Curious to see if there is an explanation for all of the extra gubbins on the sides.

That's it, GW has officially given up on designing models. Those Space Marines in Space Marines are terrible, terrible sculpts.

The centrurions are...growing on me. I will wait until I see the ranged versions before I make a final decision.

One reservation I am having is that they kind of make Dreads redundant now. How are these any different to the many dread configs that are available?

Also I wonder if can they be put in a drop pod? GW has always taken a light and forgiving attitude to scale and transports, I just wonder if this is going to be an option for these monsters. Suppose one could use the dread DP from Forge World.

EDIT: Having just seen the helmeted versions, I 'd rather have the bare "let's go get shot" heads.

Not impressed at all. But people will still buy them in droves and GW will think 'hey we can be lazy/incompetent/baffling with our designs and people will still buy them'.

blech. if you say so.

he has sterio speakers on his backpack and a microphone headset... seriously? ? and why is there a small naked bondage guy holding up his papertowel. is that supposed to be cool?

the other guy looks kinda of like a fat old man. im not sure what's going on with his cheeks or why they made him look like that. and im really not liking the giant gaydar dish on his backpack.

then we have another opera singer. close friends with the dark apostle.

and finally a generic detail stuffed space marine captain guy. same old, same old. nothing to see here.

I'm not so sure. The last few releases have had poor quality previews that were panned on here, only for decent pics to come out and many change their minds. A lot of it will probably come down to seeing the alternative builds that are possible as well as better view of the details.

If anything I think this release strategy gets people more excited about new releases. How many of you have been checking this thread every day (or even every few hours) for the new pics? And you know you're gonna keep checking it up until the White Dwarf comes out. That kind of drip-fed information builds interest and gets people considering new purchases moreso than just a couple of preview shots a month in advance.

I love those Centurions.
I'll probably add some to my Crimson Fists.
There is nothing wrong with them that a little dynamic posing can't fix.

Centurions=terrible.

Looks like they've tried to take a few design notes from PP again. What is good for the goose is not good for the gander. The tiny heads make them look far too much like Exemplar Bastions, Khador's Man o War armour or Skorne Cataphracts.

I said ti before in this thread (maybe). GW are officially out of ideas. SMs do not need anything new, but we knew it was simply an inevitability they were going to be redone; even so, there are so many more ideas they could have come up with than something that looks like a terrible conversion of what certain people think "TRUscale" SMs look like.

Clunky large block designs with guns strapped to them? I'd say they fit Marine design perfectly.

Meh. All these weird units are starting to over-complicate what is typically a simple to build army. Too many sub-specialists make for too many focussed roles, which is not the strategy for Space Marines.

Of course, in 6-12 months, we won't care or notice...

I like the Cents! They look like guys that would walk around on the outside hull of a spacehulk and tear holes in it.
The Imperial Fist good pictures make them look really static though.

Now Im just scared at what kind of enemy the emperor has forseen that need something bigger and badder in assault than termies with chainfist or hammers to deal with?
Will those drills cause multiple wounds per hit? Will they throw the enemy away like old "hurl opponent" rules?

The helmet definitely improves the design, but the drills are very silly (especially with those static poses) and the shoulder pads still look too big. The chest bolter does look a lot better than the Ironclad launcher, though.

Peraonnally I like the gorilla suits kinda mecha exoskeleton look, mix of the cagie suits of the likes of alien, matrix, avatar mixed with smaller manga landmate suits. Dehumanising them with a helmet or building that area up with a sensor pod would add to intimidation factor, I do agree the mitten style powerfists are not needed and create to much length and bulk making the under slung weapon (melta maybe?) look to tacted on a fragile, the iron clads hammer arm suffers from this too.
I'm wondering what transports will be able to move something with a dred base in a unit of three, foot slogging seems to vulnerable and slow for such a specialist unit. Tri formation drop pod would be very cool if a little dominating! I have a little hope for these monsters as I find terminators underwelming.

As for the AA tank awesome IMO! Love the extra fat phalanx style guns and chunky armour! Looks like a beast shame it will probably be to specialised for my meta.

Those Imperial Fist centurions look crap.
Bad posing, and the helmets make them look silly/sillier.
