Hello everybody!

As of recently, I have been working on a Blood Angels army, but being me, I decided to create my own unique spin on it. Hence the birth of the "Angels Vigil".

Just finished the painting on a couple of miniatures, if you want me to showcase more just say. You will find the pictures attached. Opinions on the colour schemes would be great!
(Please note the painting is not exceptionally great)

Some constructive criticism:

Thin your paints. That white on his breastplate is too thickly applied. You will get a nicer finish with more, thinner coats.

Better lighting and clearer pictures will help us determine the quality of your paintjob and how nice the color scheme is.

I like the teal and gold mixed together but I would omit the dark blue/white. Maybe add some white as a tertiary color such as on the bolter/helmet?

I hope this helps.

I like the scheme, i would recommend thining your paints, but otherwise I like it

I like the scheme. As others have said you need to thin your paints.

White takes a lot of patience to get right. The trick to painting white is that white is the high light not the main color. Build it up in thin layers starting with neutral grey/or tan and lighten the color with each layer until the final high light is pure white.

Good luck.

I personally don't like teal at all but it works well with gold. White is a bitch to paint, especially for a beginner, I'd either swap it for a bone color or grey, that will teach you how to paint bright colors.
Alternately I'd try white helmets and teal colored chests. Because white is brighter you focus on it first and you force the viewer to look at the marines chest. That's somewhat strange, the white helmet will probably look better!

Thanks to all for the tips and positive feedback! Regarding the white chest plate, that is only for Sergeants, the Tactical marines will have A LOT less white. I have also thinned down my white paint and it works really well! I will post some pictures of the finished Tactical Squad once they are done. Thanks!

I have taken in the feedback, and began painting some tactical marines. I thinned down my white and applied several thin coats. They are still a work in progress:

Way better!
Another tip: darken your white basecolour down to a light grey and apply the proper white only to the edges as a highlight. It'll improve the contrast and will bring your painting up to the next level!

They look ace. Some Quickshade and they'd look AMAZING.

Okay cool, at the moment I don't have a light grey, but would Pallid Wych Flesh work? (Off-White Creamy colour)?

I would actually recommend uluthan grey.

Nice scheme, I also like the name you've chosen.

Looking forward to see how these progress.

Had to create an account to post on this. The advice the people above gave you and the fact that you got some immediate results is awesome. Keep it up.

I agree, these new models look much better. If you used a wash like nuln oil or whatever black is called, the detail will pop out from the flat areas of color.

Sorry for the delay! Here is a full tactical squad basecoated! I only need to basecoat black and silver then I can move on to washes! Thanks to everybody for all the support, feedback and great tips that have helped me greatly!
