Hello Dakka,

I am writing this post with a heavy heart today. I am visiting the Seattle area this past week attending TSHFT and am flying to DC next weekend for the NOVA Open. Unfortunately while visiting up in the Pacific Northwest my car was broken into last night and my entire army was stolen. I am posting in the forums here in hopes that if anyone by chance sees this army floating around somewhere maybe they could post a response on here and I might have a chance at getting some of it back. The army was a Firehawks chapter of Space Marines. There were about 60 Imperial Guard Steel Legion style models in it, as well as about 25 Legion of the Damned with custom greenstuff flame work on the models and bases. The tanks have tread plating on them and some battle damage converted onto them. I am including a picture of the tournament army part of what was in the case from this past weekend at TSHFT. Thank you for any help you might be able to give.

I'd suggest scouring Ebay and Craigslist for them. Car insurance covering them?

Check alleys and dumpsters nearby in case they thought they were stealing guns etc. Pawn shops too I suppose.

Hopefully it wasn't gamer on gamer crime. I don't know how someone who knows the expense and toil these armies take could do that to someone.

Happens way more than we'd like to admit. :(

Aye. GW models are pricy but not really a prime target for criminals. The nice black/grey army cases unfortunately make people think you're carrying guns, which are a prime target for thieves.

Contact all of the gaming stores and pawn shops in the area to give them an idea of what to look out for (include as much detail as possible and even pictures if possible). A lot of criminals these days know that collectibles are expensive, but they don't often know much more than that, and a common tactic used to catch people when Magic Cards are stolen is to basically do that so the store/shop owner can basically contact the authorities when they see the product being moved that you described. Also, check Craig's List and Ebay for the stuff, using generally broad search terms, since as others have said they were probably trying to steal something else but will try to get at least something for an item they see is well protected and don't know the value of it.

I really hope your stuff is found soon :(.

Since I'm on a motorbike, it's different, I stick my Crusader cases in the three topboxes (1 top, two sides). Anyway if you know what to do you can set up an alarm system on the wheels (any contact will make an ear shattering noise).

I also reccommend painting your cases different colours to differ them from gun cases.

But yeah, stealing a 40k army is bs.

No, unfortunately I never did get it back. It was a pretty small blood and dark angels army. I mean it wasn't even in a case lol just an old ice cream bucket cause I had only just started. Other things were stolen from my car also though. I also ride a motorbike now (cheaper for gas) lol keep us updated op.

Had the same thing happening to me a few years ago, it was an army case from Battle foam if i recall, you know the kind that might just look like a camera case or something.

had 2 LR, 2 Dreads, a bunch of OOP and customized CSM and Deamons models and codexe, dices, templates, Apoc templates.

that sucks man, but lesson learned...never ever leave valuable gak in your vehicle..if you have to then disguise it or hide it. Car shopping is pretty common in the world economy let alone some punks do it for fun.

Ouch. I don't have any suggestions that haven't already been made (though you filed a police report, right?), but best of luck in getting them back, and my sympathies on the loss.
