Did plenty today but going to do a couple more models to end the night... I need some guinea pigs to see what I want my 117th Kronus Regiment colors to look like.

Trying to figure out how to use a 50 dollar Amazon gift certificate to add something to my 30k Word Bearers. Too bad you came buy eBay gift certificates from Amazon

Amazon is a weird place to buy hobbying stuff. Sometimes materials are alright, and things like airbrushes...but models themselves can be downright preposterously priced. There are a few stand-out brands that actually sell for decent prices but to my knowledge, 40k is not one of them =/

I just finished another KoW unit yesterday so today I'm not sure what to do... I could keep trucking, or I could do some kind of palette cleanse with something entirely different. I said I would do some terrain but I'm not sure what I'd like to do. It's raining so even if I build some terrain I can't really start on it.

Yeah I am just noticing the weirdness on Amazon. Why buy a box of Tac Marines anywhere else, when you can get one on Amazon for 216.99???

Based on what I've personally looked for, some of the bigger kits, like Imperial Knights can tend to be less than LGW prices... but yeah, it doesn't tend to save you much on models themselves. The Codices, I have found to be a bit discounted, so that's nice.

Where discount models on Amazon are concerned... I have found a number of "can't pass up on this" deals for Tamiya kits in the past year. I think I've bought 5 kits for the total price of what I'd pay in store for 2... and 2 of those kits were actually limited run, "special" edition with even higher than normal MSRP.

As for what I'm doing today... I'm continuing work on my knight. I'm guessing I will have the body assembled. I am debating whether I should glue him to the base now, or later as I don't have a basing scheme thought up yet. Also, I'm kind of sad that, once I put the shoulder pads on, I won't be able to do an arm swap on him, as I was hoping that if I didn't glue the arms on at the shoulders, I would be able, once I have more knights to simply arm swap for any weapon I need, for those times I don't run the Court formation.

Generally if you see something in Amazon going for ridiculous amounts of money, it probably means they've gone out of stock on an item and have increased the prices to something crazy as it's apparently a gigantic pain in the *** to re-list something for small time sellers.

Funnily enough, there was a time after AoS dropped where fantasy prices became almost reasonable. Stores trying to move the last of their stock, I'm sure. Sadly, I missed the window on Island of Blood. Guess it's a collectors item now.

Played some X-wing with the new force awakens ships. We had two games with two t-70s and two TIE/fos and traded teams after the first game. The TIE/fos mauled the x-wings both times. I'm sure they're not strictly better or anything, but we were having trouble getting the t-70s to win just out of the box. Maybe its other upgrades or just needing to learn to fly them better. I really liked the TIE/fos though, I dunno if they'll make their way into proper tie fighter swarms since they're more expensive...but maybe they can fit into lists that couldn't quite take two ps1 TIES, or something like that.

Odd that the TIEs won both, given that they T-70s are pointed a lot higher. Was it simply the manoeuvrability that swung it for them, TIEs traditionally being able to run rings around X-wings (even the faster, newer version)?

If that was the case, and you have the T-70 expansion or don't mind proxy cards, perhaps try Ello Asty, white Talon Rolls should help there. Perhaps, I may just be talking rubbish as I haven't played with the TFA stuff yet (and won't mix eras, so until I see a source that puts B/A-wings with T-70s or we get more New Trilogy ships, no T-70 for me no matter how awesome they look! )

I don't see what would keep the rebels from using older ships if they had em and not enough new t70s. Same with imperial/FO stuff.

The points were the same, 60/side with 3 tie/fos and 2 t70s. Ello is indeed a neat ship. Blue ace can do some interesting moves and Poe is apparently good too but probably needs upgrades.

All I know is we both flew the ties to victory, its a small sample so could be luck. Also could be easier to use.

Not sure what to do today. Maybe some scenery dunno.

Ah, 3vs2 is fair, your original post said two of each which is why I was confused.

I agree that it's probably easy enough to justify older and newer ships together, Star Wars (along with LotR and Batman) is the setting where I'm always going to be quite picky about fluff, though. Seeing lists with Luke and Poe, or Wedge and Ello, or Palpatine and FO TIEs or whatever I just find quite jarring.

You are correct whoops!

Doesn't matter much to me. The idea of space combat working like atmospheric combat *at all* is a ridiculous joke to begin with. If I'm gonna let that slide, may as well pack in all the cool characters I can

scrabbling together spare bits from my chaos space marines.

I had a terminator chest, loads of arms and the lower half of each leg and figured, hey! That is enough to work with.

One thigh is bulging and mutated, the other is a chainsword and a bunch of greenstuff cabling. The groin is a daemon prince head.
I'm widening the torso with flamers to act as spacers.

From the looks of things this model will probably end up as an obliterator, but I guess Warpsmith is not out of the question either!

Don't know whether you're open to using brush-on varnish, but Revell's regular clear matt varnish is decent.

So things I've learned today.

It turns out http://www.critskillpeople.com isn't just a random fan website, but actually the main, official website for the resources for Batman: The Miniatures Game. - It doesn't just have the main FAQ for the game hosted there but actually has the Official Living Rulebook done up as a controlled wiki.

It's actually really well done. - Between that wiki and "Hero-Builder.net" you can actually get the complete rules for the game for free.

Doing more mold line work on my Convergence of Cyriss army. I have to say I wish privateer Press would've stuck with making their stuff in metal rather than this restic garbage. The metal Convergence models I bought actually required very little clean up work. That or do it in Resin. I own one of their resin+metal models and the resin is really good.
