So yeah, I've been wanting to do some marines for a while and got all caught up with this new Betrayal of Calth box and had a bit of a splurge.

2x BaC boxes
2x FW Landraider Proteus
2x FW Spartan Assault Tanks
1x FW Imperial Fists Contemptor Dread
Sigismund
6x FW Assault cannons
Lots of shoulderpads

Can this make a sensible list? Please help!

Then it was time to paint a test model or five and this guy won out. I liked this yellow colour and hoped it could be replicated easily and quickly.

It was.

So I wrote up the recipe and stocked up on paints. I should probably add the full recipe to this blog before I lose it.
Let me know if you'd like it and i'll get it up quicker. Oo'er...

Then I did some assembly and got the 1st Terminator started. The yellow seems to be working out fine so this is how the power armour will be throughout.
What do you reckon?

He turned out fine although needs some more work and I've since got 4 more terminators to that stage and built and mostly finished one of the Proteus. More of those next time...
Spoiler:

More to come very soon and I've got plenty more pics lined up but this will be fine as a placeholder for tonight.
Let me know what you think and keep popping in for updates as things go further.
All C+C, ideas, brainstorming, questions or heckling welcome.
Cheers.

Yep. 30k is all the rage now, maybe gee-dubs will take noticed and release more 30k in plastic, that'd be great. I'd love to start a 30k army. Anyway. The models look great!

Thanks, I find them super easy to use as test minis as I've got loads of them knocking around, they're snap fit and they don't have much detail.
They're just super convenient and it's easy enough to see if a scheme will work on them.

War Kitten wrote:Maybe gee-dubs will take noticed and release more 30k in plastic.... The models look great!

That'd be great, I'd be very up for that, especially vehicles-FW Landraiders are horrible kits but more on that later. My models or HH ones?

LordRahl wrote:looking good! although i myself would prefer the flexy bits in black than having it yellow on yellow.

Cheers, are you talking about the bits in the groin, elbows and abdomen? Yeah, I intend to do those dark/black as well as pick out some trims here and there.

evildrcheese wrote:Wow looking good. Can we get more pics of the Proteus?

Thank you. Absolutely, here they come.....

lipsdapips wrote:Mmm that's a nice paint scheme! Looking forward to more.

Good, glad you like it. I'm looking forward to painting some more, not so much assembly though. Wish some of the marines were snapfit. :(

So here we go with a quick update....

Here's the current state of the Terminators. Still quite a lot to do to them trims, weapons, bases (any ideas), weathering. How do you like the white helms? Too cold?

And here's the Proteus. This was a pig to build, especially the tracks, but fun nonetheless. I'll definitely be painting the next 3 in sub assemblies.
Paintwise the scheme is very similar to the troops but with some slightly different application techniques.
It may look a bit blotchy/inky in places but i'll be covering those areas with some heavier weathering later. Just need to get the decals on first.
The tracks need some work and there's a fair few more details to pick out but this is where I'm at so far.....

Side The door looks a little stark but I'm waiting for my Microsol and Set and it'll get a whacking big transfer spooged onto it.

Yellow marines, very daring. A little dirty but not chipped and beaten yet?

The only thing that looks a little off to me is the red strappy things on the terminators. They just look a little flat.

I like the gritty yellow, looks great!

I also like the typo in the title. It makes me wonder what Horus is saying other people have said!

Ha ha. Thanks guys.
The strappy things aren't finished yet. They need some work.
It's not a typo it's a play on words. Glad you liked it.

Those termies are looking great so far! I just love the older armor marks, I'm considering just adding a bunch of them to my Ultramarines (first founding chapters would have more of those left wouldn't they? Along with the older vehicles like the Sicaran?)

Just a small update this time I'm afraid.
Just had my Microsol and Microset turn up today and managed to get the transfers fixed and did a little extra weathering.
Thanks for looking, cheers.

Thanks guys, just done a few bits of work on some bases today.
I'm hoping to get then down pretty quickly and batch paint them in one or two hits so it's just sand and bases with stuff glued to them at the moment with nothing worth showing.
Thanks for the encouragement and I'll hook you up with a bit more to look at next time,

It's been a while but here's a few conversions of the BAC contemptor, I wanted to make it a bit less static.
It is totally possible to mash it with the Forgeworld arms for extra pew.
If anyone is interested I can give some more pics.
Paint soon.
Cheers.

Poses look cool. You going to heat stress those barrels? Some of them look like they are at the end of their service life. One nice thing about plastic, it does long and skinny better then resin.

Ha ha.
Yeah, let's just say that they are from a questionable source.
They're a bitch to put together.
I gave the FW body 2x BAC cannons and the others are a little wonky.
I'll have another go at straightening them before paint..
They'll definitely get a bit of heat stress weathering though.

I did have a go with some styrene rod and considered brass but it was super fiddly so I gave up.
Hopefully after a bit more of a tweak and some paint it'll be less noticeable.

Were you able to magnetise the arms when mixing with the FW Contemptor or have you glued the weapon options?

If you've got more pics of mixing them I'd be interested in seeing them.
